The Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI) is a nonprofit organization and the nation’s leading authority on financial services for underbanked consumers.  CFSI’s programs are based on the belief that addressing the needs of underbanked consumers as a market will deliver broad, long-term change throughout the financial services landscape by creating mutual benefit for both the underbanked and the companies serving them.  Therefore, CFSI works with leaders and innovators in the business, government and nonprofit sectors to transform the financial services landscape with programs focused on informing, connecting and investing – gathering enhanced intelligence, brokering and supporting productive industry relationships and fostering best-in-class products and strategies.  CFSI seeks to improve the quality and quantity of financial products and services, better shape them to the needs and desires of underbanked customers, and expand effective savings and asset acquisition opportunities. CFSI is nearly eight years old, has experienced dramatic growth in the last two years and is poised for further growth in 2012. The organization currently has a staff of 22 plus interns and consultants, with offices in Chicago, New York and Washington, DC. Position:

CFSI is currently hiring a Manager to join the Insights and Analytics team who will work directly with the Director of the Compass Principles initiative to develop strategies for expanding the quantity and quality of financial products and services for underbanked consumers. The Manager, Insights & Analytics will support projects, relationships, and events for the Compass Principles work.  Critical components of this role include project management, relationship management, research, and analysis.  Much of this work will be conducted in partnership with others, requiring strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability. The Manager, Insights & Analytics will work directly with internal and external stakeholders to help CFSI advance the identified strategic priorities across the organization with the goal of changing the financial services experience of underbanked customers. 

Responsibilities:

Project Management
  • Work with Directors to define project tasks in the areas of the Compass Principles and Research; prepare and complete action plans and timelines for identified projects and events
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to meet project objectives
  • Consistently achieve high-caliber, on-time project deliverables
  • Manage development of agenda content for annual Underbanked Financial Services Forum
Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong and collegial relationships with key stakeholders and partners in the financial services environment, including corporations, academics, consumer advocates, regulators and other experts
  • Engage cross-sector experts in an ongoing, positive dialogue about innovative and high-quality financial services through the Compass Principles initiative
  • Actively participate in the stakeholder convenings and meetings, including: agenda development, meeting planning, facilitation, and content development
Research & Analysis
  • Manage multi-stage consumer research projects.  Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
  • Write and edit reports/white papers
  • Produce and/or contribute to Compass Principles product guides, Compass Principles tools, and other content for CFSI dissemination
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of both current industry dynamics and cutting edge financial services innovation
  • Participate in and contribute to policy initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of work experience in financial services, community development, poverty alleviation, or research
  • Ability to synthesize data to advance project and organizational objectives, along with strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
  • Strong customer focus and relationship savvy, with proven ability to build strong relationships with both clients and colleagues
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work independently without close oversight, as well as collaboratively as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the organization
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders and build long-term relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability and desire to think strategically and execute efficiently
  • Strong desire to be engaged in mission-related work and a commitment to the work of CFSI.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; MBA or similar degree preferred
