The main focus of the IB Diploma Programme English B course is on language acquisition and development of language skills and intercultural understanding through the study and use of a range of written and spoken material. Such material will extend from everyday oral exchanges to literary texts, and is related to the cultures concerned.
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is currently seeking to make the appointments of: IB Examiner for English B (multiple vacancies)
Applicants must have:
- at least 1 year ongoing experience teaching students aged 15 or above in English as a second language
- appropriate academic qualifications in the subject
- access to the broadband Internet in an environment suitable for marking confidential examination material
- details of two referees, one referee to be a direct supervisor, suitable to comment on applicant's teaching/ examining experience
- a bank account in their own name.
Examining involves marking examination scripts or reviewing/moderating coursework originally marked by teachers. The English B course is marked online, with the exception of one component, the written assignment, which is marked in a conventional way (samples are sent via a courier). The marking normally takes place over a period of 3-4 weeks, in accordance with the examination session calendar.
