AngloGold Ashanti Limited (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents and a highly successful exploration program. In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine in WA and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine, also in WA, in which it has a 70% interest and is manager. Independence Group holds the remaining 30%. Tropicana, which represents the most significant Australian gold discovery for the last decade, is scheduled to begin production in the December quarter of 2013.
We are seeking a Junior DBA/Systems Analyst to join our Information Technology team in Perth CBD.
Accountable to the DBA/ Systems Analyst, this role is responsible for database and Application administration, researching problems, planning solutions, and continual engagement with the business to determine their needs and requirements.
The main tasks of the role include:
- Deploy, manage and monitor SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2
- Administration and support of mine production and processing plant databases
- In-house application installation, configuration, administration, support
- Produce reports using Microsoft Reporting Services
- Some travel to mine site operations
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum two years administration and development experience with Microsoft Access and SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 (32 & 64 bit servers) including the writing of stored procedures and SQL code
- Experience in managing and monitoring databases, adding and extracting data as required
- Experience in the use of Reporting Services and SSIS (Integration Services)
- Experience with C# and Visual Studio
- Understanding of mining production life cycles and HSEC reporting requirements
- Ability to solve problems autonomously with little documentation and prior knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders to understand business requirements and business flow
- Ability to prioritise, be proactive and show initiative
- Computer Science graduate
- Must have the ability to work permanently in Australia
Experience in the mining industry, along with project work would be advantageous but not essential.
