The Department of Geography at the University of Portsmouth wishes to appoint to a lectureship in physical geography. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our established teaching programmes and research groups.  

Applications from any area of physical geography will be considered. Applicants with experience in ecology, research in extreme environments and/or environmental modelling techniques are particularly welcome. An ability to complement existing research strengths, particularly those within the Environmental Processes and Change group, is desirable.

Applicants should have a PhD and be research active with a publication record that shows potential for entry into the Research Excellence Framework commensurate with career stage. You will be encouraged and supported in the development of your personal research agenda and encouraged to collaborate with colleagues.   

You will be required to demonstrate experience of teaching and be willing to contribute to the physical geography teaching programme at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including tutorials, fieldwork, dissertation supervision and core teaching within the physical geography curriculum. Existing experience of delivering specialist option teaching would be an additional advantage.
