Deputy Chief Examiner for Economics


International Baccalaureate Organization

IB Economics course seeks to develop international understanding and foster a concern for global issues, as well as to raise students' awareness of their own responsibility at a local and national level. Economics also aims to develop values and attitudes that will help students reach a degree of personal commitment in trying to resolve these issues, appreciating our shared responsibility as citizens of an increasingly interconnected world.
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is currently seeking to make the appointment of: Deputy Chief Examiner for Economics
Applicants must have:
  • experience of large scale/16-18 age assessment
  • academic qualifications at an appropriate level
  • availability to fulfil commitments, attend meetings, meet deadlines and respond to queries
  • enthusiasm for e-marking
  • IB Diploma Programme teaching experience in Economics
  • commitment to international education
  • management experience/leadership skills
  • reliable broadband internet connection
  • knowledge of Spanish and/or French would be an advantage.
Senior Examiners supervise a subject's examining teams, maintaining the integrity of IB assessment.
Appointments will last a maximum of five years. Much of the work can be carried out from home; occasional meetings in one of the IB's European offices may be required.
The closing date for applications is Friday 18th January 2013.
Successful applicants will be notified by the end of May 2013.
Appointments will take effect from September 2013.
