POSITION SUMMARY
ICAP seeks a coordinator to support its director in a variety of tasks related to research and program development and management. The HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) is a global clinical trials network that develops and tests the safety and efficacy of interventions aimed at preventing the transmission of HIV. Funded by the Division of AIDS (DAIDS) of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, the HPTN research agenda is focused on design and implementation of HIV prevention research in the US and globally. The Coordinator is a full time position who will support ICAP Director in her role as HPTN Principal Investigator with all aspects of network support and management.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
With oversight from ICAP Director, the Coordinator will be responsible for providing overall support in the development, implementation of research endeavors and in the management of Network activities.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist HPTN PI in communication with network leadership, including preparation of briefings/reports and the conduct of regular meetings and calls discussing network research agenda and activities.
- Supports the network research agenda through the conduct of literature reviews and follow-up of relevant scientific questions.
- Support development of abstracts and presentations for scientific conferences.
- Support development and submission of peer-reviewed publications in association with HPTN network leadership and protocol teams.
- Represent the HPTN network at network and protocol team meetings, study sites, regulatory meetings, scientific and professional meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel (domestically and internationally) as needed.
EDUCATION
- MD, PhD or Masters degree in health, public health or related field.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and practical experience in HIV, HIV prevention research, including design of studies, research protocols and oversight of research.
- Knowledge and practical experience in management of systems and networks.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite applications.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3 years HIV, HIV prevention research experience
- Experience in support of research sites or other research entities
- Experience working in both domestic and international settings
- Experience managing and coordinating projects whether research or service oriented.
