Senior Auditors - Finance Professionals Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute Africa & South East Asia


The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute is a public institution with the mandate to contribute to the improvement of the health of populations internationally and nationally through excellence in research, services, and teaching and training.
The Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) conducts consultancy, project management, training and applied research work in international health. We are contracted by the Global Fund to provide Local Fund Agent (LFA) services and are seeking applications for the following positions:
Senior Auditors - Finance Professionals
based in Africa & South East Asia
Within on-going assignments from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, your tasks will include:
• Contributions to the conduct of activities related to the appraisal and performance monitoring of health sector development projects in our portfolios
• Verification of the implementation of health programs with special consideration of aspects relating to financial accounting and financial administration and management.
To best fit into our active, interdisciplinary team we require the following qualifications:
• Training and formal qualification (at least Master degree level) in financial accounting and/or financial administration and management. A qualification as Auditor is an asset.
• Minimum of 10 years working experience in the field of finances, controlling and auditing of health sector development projects. Previous Local Fund Agent (LFA) experience as financial professional with the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is highly appreciated.
• Experience in auditing required
• Excellent command of English and French are both required for Africa. English as mother tongue language is considered as an asset if good level of French (speaking and writing)
• Minimum of 3 years working experience in low- and middle income countries (Health sector is appreciated).
• Ability to review and analyze budgets, financial management systems; financial statements (including income and expenditure statements and cash reconciliation statements) and audit reports
• Good communication skills, strong spirit of team work and initiative, and ability to work with professionals in multi-cultural context
An initial contract of two years will be offered. An extension is desirable, depending on a performance evaluation.
We are looking to have the successful candidate in place in January 2013.
