Stipendiary Junior Research Fellowship

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Junior Research Fellowship in Burmese Studies (Gender, Health and Education) at Lady Margaret Hall (LMH), in conjunction with International Gender Studies (IGS) at LMH, University of Oxford.
Applications are invited for a two year fixed term stipendiary Junior Research Fellowship, commencing in October 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. The JRF is funded by the DASSK Trust and will be held at Lady Margaret Hall (LMH), in conjunction with IGS at LMH, in the University of Oxford.
Applications are invited from candidates from relevant Social Sciences backgrounds with strong focus on gender studies. The appointee will have recently completed a doctorate or be very close to completion. The Trustees, the College and IGS will look for a scholar with an intimate understanding of Burmese society and a genuine, long-term commitment to advancing the cause of female education within Burma’s on-going overall development, in line with the aims of the DASSK Trust.
Candidates should demonstrate mastery of Burma’s languages and deep knowledge of its cultures. The JRF will be required to conduct a programme of research, publications and dissemination of research findings as well as additional academic duties suitable to the nature of a fieldwork-based Fellowship and as proposed by her or him on application.
