Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in agriculture, business management, economics, or related field required
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in implementing large donor-funded agricultural value chain activities and developing water supply and canal distribution systems, particularly in transitional, Islamic, or post-conflict countries
- Three to five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience; direct supervision of a diverse team of professionals that includes agroeconomists, extension workers, and support staff
- Experience developing value chain activities to support farmers and private-sector partners
- Record of project design and implementation capacity building, working with a range of stakeholders, including host governments, local private sectors, and small farmers
- Experience in agricultural development, particularly development of value chain development for high-value crops at the farm community level
- Experience in Afghanistan, South Asia, or similar area
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Willingness to live and work in Afghanistan required
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in Dari or Pashto preferred
