We seek a Research Associate to join a team in the Power Conversion and Power Systems Groups at the University of Manchester, investigating future network systems - specifically the use of energy storage interfaced to the network through static compensators (STATCOMs).
The project will involve working in close collaboration with the Power Transmission Business of Siemens Transmission and Distribution Ltd. You will be based in Manchester with the majority of time spent at the Siemens T&D's Didsbury offices as well as some time at the University of Manchester.
You must hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in a relevant subject area, or have equivalent experience with have a strong track record in power engineering research. Proficiency with time-stepping simulation of engineering systems is also essential, as are excellent communication and team working skills.Applicants with expertise in electrical engineering, especially with experience in the modelling of power electronic systems, and control techniques for power systems would be particularly welcome.
