For the further development of the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDS) in Saudi Arabia, GIZ IS is currently looking for advisors and experts in different fields, with strong background in the statistical sector. Our advisors are working directly in the Central Department for Statistics and Information and advising the CDSI in various technical and business related fields.
The CDSI is responsible to provide all aspects of economic forecasting, economic research and studies, statistical data collection, processing and dissemination, as well as data analysis and the preparation of reports and statistical indicators.
The CDSI is considered the sole official source for statistics in the Kingdom and is assigned to undertake all statistical operations needed in all fields of development. CDSI is responsible for providing government departments, public and private agencies, and individuals with information and official statistics. CDSI compiles all statistics related to the Kingdom’s economic and social conditions through its staff. CDSI cooperates with other Ministries and governmental departments and assist them in collecting and compiling statistical information.

Your tasks
As a GIZ advisor you will work in the CDSI Head Office in Riyadh. Business trips to CDSI branches may arise. Individual tasks will typically comprise, but will not necessarily be limited to the following topics:
- Advising the CDSI senior management in all technical and statistical fields
- Supporting the further development of CDSI in the field of indexes
- Preparation of reviews, analyses and assessments
- Improve performance of the quality of statistical output of CDSI
- Evaluate the cost of living index program
- Review percentage tables, date link-up and prepare time series
- Design new wholesale price index
- Study classifications in use and prepare the basket of goods
- Review software programs
- Review and improve the general methodology and approach in the field of indexes
- Advising the CDSI senior management in all technical and statistical fields

Your profile
- University degree in economics, statistics or equivalent, minimum at masters level
- Minimum 10 years professional experience in the field of statistics
- Broad experience in preparing, developing and implementation of indexes
- Fluency in Arabic is required
- Working experience in a statistical institution is required
- Experience, access and personal network to institutions in the statistical sector worldwide would be an asset
- Sound communication and writing skills in the English language
- Flexibility and personnel readiness to live in a Middle Eastern environment
- Minimum 10 years professional experience in the field of statistics
- Broad experience in preparing, developing and implementation of indexes
- Fluency in Arabic is required
- Working experience in a statistical institution is required
- Experience, access and personal network to institutions in the statistical sector worldwide would be an asset
- Sound communication and writing skills in the English language
- Flexibility and personnel readiness to live in a Middle Eastern environment
Assignment period
The assignment may commence at earliest date possible. Contract duration 1 year with several short and intermediate visits. Optional/intended annual extension.
