The usual recruitment rate for this post (Grade 3) is £32,645 with future pay progression within the pay band from £32,645 to £35,292.
As the Programme Officer you will support Country Office staff to implement a portfolio of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Grants, The position will manage under the supervision of the WASH Programme Officer a portfolio of 4-6 large projects in Africa, funded by the European Union and/, in countries which include Burkina Faso, Togo, Uganda and Kenya. The projects largely support sustainable rural water supply, and community driven approaches to sanitation and hygiene behaviour change, including Community-Led Total Sanitation. The position requires fluent French and a willingness to undertake regular travel to country offices.
The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience supporting and managing sizeable development projects, in particular with EU funding. You will have experience of supporting rural water and sanitation projects (particularly in Africa), and working in French and English.
