As Director of Finance and Business Services, you’ll be responsible for leading the financial and business compliance elements of BBC Media Action’s annual business cycle and leading the charity as part of its management team.

Role

You’ll be responsible for managing the finance, legal and IT functions in London, directly managing 4 senior London based staff and through them, a larger team of around 20 staff. You’ll deliver senior financial leadership to all staff, both finance and non-finance ensuring that the finance department provides excellent business-focused management accounting and business advice to all staff. So, you’ll take responsibility for compliance of all operations relating to insurance, tax, legal and health and safety requirements, as well as on donor contracts, ensuring support is provided to projects in these areas. Importantly, you’ll be an active member of our Management Team, contributing to our strategic development, reporting to the Director and Trustees as required and servicing the Finance and Audit Trustee subcommittee.

Requirements

You’ll be a qualified accountant with considerable post qualification experience serving to show a strong ability to perform the duties of this post. As an example, you’ll understand the complexities of large operational programmes including knowledge of legal and financial requirements. Naturally, you’ll bring previous experience of operating at a senior level and demonstrating substantial leadership and decision making skills, which will include strong ability to influence and encourage buy-in. Importantly, you’ll also show a real passion for international development issues and how media could be used to support work in these areas. Equally important will be your understanding of policy formulation and experience of introducing systems and processes in large and complex organisations.
