Job Description:
RedR Australia is a not-for-profit organisation which selects, trains and deploys technical experts for international disaster relief work.  We are a leading provider of humanitarian training in the region with RedR Australia field placements in mind, and for anyone preparing to work in overseas aid. 
We offer a diverse range of courses from the essentials of humanitarian practice through to technical courses tailored to the needs of clients.
We are seeking applicants with proven skills in people management and training preparation and delivery.  We need extensive practical experience in humanitarian assistance and emergency work.  Experience in curriculum design and development, and knowledge of sector areas, for example, emergency management, water and sanitation, health, food aid, nutrition, logistics or site planning will be highly regarded, as will knowledge and an understanding of the Australian aid sector.  Well developed skills in computer programs including word processing, PowerPoint, and Excel are also required.
This position is offered initially for a one-year fixed term, based in Melbourne with regular travel required within Australia and in the Asia-Pacific regions.  RedR Australia is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

1.    Service Delivery
Work with other members of RedR Australia staff to achieve RedR’s overall goals and specifically:
a.    Assist in design and delivery of the Training Programme in Australia, Asia and Pacific Regions for RedR and RedR’s strategic partners: UNHCR eCentre, UNICEF, OCHA,WFP, AusAID;
b.    Contribute to the curriculum development with a specialization in a range of areas (based on previous experience) including Introduction to Humanitarian action; technical areas such as Water, Hygiene & Sanitation, Health, Food, Nutrition, Shelter and Site planning; Logistics; contextual frameworks including SPHERE standards, International Law, Protection; Human Resources; and Training of Trainers;
c.    Take a sectoral lead as approved or agreed with the Manager, Training Service and act as focal point for RedR;

2.    Liaison
In agreement with and as delegated by the Manager, Training Service:
a.    Represent RedR Training Service in discussions within RedR Australia.
b.    Represent RedR generally in discussions with third parties, recipients of customised training and potential recipients, with objective of enhancement and growth of relationships.

3.    Planning, monitoring and reporting
a.    Contribute to the development of the Training Service Operational Plan.
b.    Prepare timely reports on completion of courses, reviewing course evaluations and providing feedback to the Training Service Manager, (when the particular course is being led by the Senior Humanitarian Trainer).

4.    Financial Management
a.    Contribute to initial budget calculations in preparation of quotes to interested parties, using previous like-type courses as a guide.
b.    Operate under sound financial arrangements, giving timely documentation to Finance Service.
 
Preferred Skills:
SELECTION CRITERIA
1    Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or experience with Training Qualifications to Cert IV or Training of Trainers;
2    Experience working in the field of humanitarian assistance (specifically Emergencies) with sector knowledge such as Emergencies Management, Coordination, Protection, Water, Hygiene & Sanitation, Health, Food Aid, Nutrition, Logistics, Site planning;
3    Knowledge of both International and Australian Humanitarian and Development agencies;
4    High order training delivery skills (design, curriculum development, and training of trainers skill);
5    High order people management skills including communication and networking skills;
6    Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment with minimal supervision;
7    Proven experience in a conceptual & analytical thinking;
8    A commitment to the mission of RedR;
9    Well developed computer skills using MS Office package (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and financial tracking) to be self-sufficient at producing reports, spreadsheets and presentations;
10  Experience working with UN agencies such as UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP or UNOCHA would be well regarded;
11  Position demands frequent and regular travel for Training purposes domestically and internationally and for extensive periods (10 day blocks).
