Senior Advisor ICT & Media for 32 hours per week. Starting date: June 2013
What will be your responsibility?
You are responsible for the further development of policies within the Expression and Engagement programme, related to
Transparency & Accountability (with a strong focus on the role of citizen engagement and technology), Internet Freedom and Independent Media/citizen journalism. You are expected to further develop and articulate the strategic vision on these themes, positioning Hivos as a renowned and active actor in international networks of implementers, think tanks and funders. The development, fundraising for and implementation of innovative programmes are a second key part of your responsibilities
You provide advice and support to the program managers and officers working at Head Office and at the six regional offices, while you use their input and expertise to develop new initiatives and programmes. You are able to present Hivos’ vision in an attractive and convincing way during conferences and meetings. You feel comfortable in building networks with relevant strategic partners and donor agencies in North and South.
What will be your profile?
You have an advanced degree in a relevant field at University level, as well as ample experience with programme development and management in North and South, of which at least 5 years in transparency initiatives, media, internet, technology for change or related fields. Knowledge and relevant experience of working with major bilateral, multilateral donors and/or major foundations is particularly relevant to this position. And we are looking for someone who knows how to present Hivos in international fora and talks with donors.
We expect you to be smart in connection with frontrunners and able to translate gained knowledge into innovative and high quality programming. You have a strong affinity for Hivos’ mission. And you are a creative, innovative and entrepreneurial personality with a network in the area of technology, media and citizen initiatives. We expect you to have excellent communication skills, both verbally as well as in writing in Dutch, English and preferably Spanish.

An inspiring and dynamic working environment, dedicated colleagues, and the possibility of regular travels. A one-year contract with possibility of an extension. The salary depends on experience up to a maximum of
€ 4.100,25 gross (grade 12), based on a 32-hour workweek. Travel expenses compensation in accordance with Hivos Regulations, including participation in the Pension fund “Pensioenfonds voor Zorg & Welzijn”.
