Are you an active member of a community forum and do you post online every day?  Is building social community so ingrained you just can’t stop?  We seek a highly motivated individual with experience and fanatical passion for engaging the public via community participation leadership.  The Community Marketing Coordinator will substantially grow Kiva’s presence on online forums by engaging our members through dynamic content, lively discussion and customer service excellence.  You will seek to empower individuals and groups of people by providing them with the resources they need to affect change in their own communities.  

Job Description

The Community Marketing Coordinator will build ongoing, permanent relationships for the purpose of applying a collective vision for the benefit of Kiva’s community.  You will strive to build a grassroots movement with the goal of moving Kiva’s existing online communities towards positive change offline, as well.  You will be the face of Kiva to our existing users, responding to lender inquiries on our various message boards, and will lead special projects that will help engage lenders and deepen their lending experience on Kiva.  You will manage a high performing base of community volunteers to achieve aggressive targets.  The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter who loves interacting with a wide range of people, is exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, has great communication skills and loves to learn. 

Job Responsibilities

Identify and nurture key influencers
●        Identify Kiva lenders who are key influencers in online communities, and work to build relationships with them.
●        Serve as an evangelist and foster engagement for Kiva’s most active users with a goal of increased lending volume.
●        Strategize and create new ideas for engaging active lenders and increasing new lender growth.
●        Conduct annual survey for active lenders, report results internally, and iterate on super lender strategy based on survey results.
 
Engage Kiva lending teams
●     Identify and engage lending team captains; Facilitate communication and collaboration between captains.
●     Create regular challenges to encourage healthy competition amongst the various teams, as one of many vehicles for fostering engagement and incentivizing growth.
●     Target active common interest groups who aren’t currently lending to spur community engagement through Kiva.
●     Draft blog posts highlighting the progress and success of lending teams and their captains.
 
Communicate regularly with Kiva’s lender community
●     Plan and run quarterly Kiva Insights calls.
●     Monitor lending team discussion boards; Respond to questions, negative comments and requests.
●     Moderate comment threads — not just by monitoring them for inappropriate comment, but also by getting timely answers for reader questions posed in the threads.
●     Post directly on top lending team message boards every month.
●     Draft and post announcements on new loan products, campaigns, contests, requests for feedback, etc.
 
Manage improvements to lending team functionality
●     Gather feedback and take suggestions from lenders on improvements to our product.
●     Create and manage special projects to deepen lender experience and facilitate increased lending and team membership.
●     Work closely with product and engineering teams to build new lending team features and improve the user experience for lenders.
 
Facilitate community events
●     Equip lenders to host parties and gatherings by giving them the resources and support they need to be successful; Help team captains organize and coordinate these events.
●     Take charge of staffing booths at county fairs, chamber expos and other events that provide an opportunity for interaction with large numbers of people.
●     Manage the scheduling of all events on Kiva’s public Event Calendar and Create an online photo collage where lenders can upload photos from their events.
●     Draft blog posts to promote upcoming events, and share the success of past events with the community.
●     Coordinate Kiva’s annual October birthday celebrations.
●     Organize Kiva’s first ever lender conference in San Francisco.
 

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

●      BA or equivalent degree required
●      2-3 years volunteer management experience preferred
●      2-3 years of experience managing online forum for web 2.0 company preferred
●      Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in online forums and internet communities
●      Superior customer service orientation, both for internal and external audiences
●      Process Improvement, Decision Making, Managing Processes, Staffing, Planning, Analyzing Information, Help Desk Experience, Emphasizing Excellence
●      Effective communicator of sensitive and/or controversial topics
●      Has excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment
●      Is self-directed, eager to meet and exceed objectives, excited to take on more responsibility, and can foresee upcoming creative opportunities
●      Superior organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
●      Ability to communicate results to Director in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
●      Ability to develop positive working relationships with a variety of people (i.e. board members, staff, volunteers, government officials, community partners, organizational donors and media)
●      Someone with a "ready to help" attitude; Friendly, optimistic, energetic and passionate
●      Strong commitment to ethics, honesty, and integrity in conducting business
