Online Marketing Manager

Job Description

Reporting to the VP, Marketing & Communications, the Online Marketing Manager will drive new users to Kiva by understanding user profiles and behavior to creatively target new audiences through multiple online channels, while also helping to optimize the user lifecycle experience to increase engagement.  The role combines email and lifecycle marketing, online advertising, SEO, product launch marketing and business development. 
 

Job Responsibilities

Kiva’s unique philanthropy 2.0 model puts crowd funding to work for social good.  This global connection of lenders and borrowers also creates unique online marketing opportunities that incorporate the richness of Kiva’s field work, with the natural user touch points of the Kiva lending cycle.  The Online Marketing Manager must be both strategic and tactical in identifying and leveraging the most compelling aspects of the Kiva model to increase demand and drive engagement throughout the user funnel. Specific job responsibilities include:

Strategy:

  • Through lender research and use of the Net Promoter Score (NPS) user satisfaction tool, identify new target audiences, as well as ways to delight current users.  Recommend, design and implement online programs and campaigns that turn research learnings into new and more active Kiva lenders.
  • Work closely with the product management team to develop email programs that increase engagement throughout the user lifecycle.
  • Understand the right mix of education and promotion that speaks to Kiva’s audience and develop creative online campaigns and promotional programs that leverage and grow Kiva’s social media presence, and attract new corporate and online media partners.

 Online user acquisition and relationship management:

  • User acquisition
    • Innovate user lifecycle touch points that lead to repeat visits and transactions through emails and other promotions.
    • Improve qualified traffic with strong SEO, online advertising and co-branded promotional programs with corporate and online media partners.
    • Manage a substantial in-kind advertising budget, including defining the strategy, copy, and creative for all advertising campaigns.
  • Testing and optimizing - Develop a robust email test plan to continuously optimize user communications, and track/report learnings and recommendations on a regular basis.
  • Integrated communications
    • Work closely with marketing, product and portfolio teams to take advantage of joint content, product launch and promotional opportunities.
    • Manage new product launch campaigns.

 Administration:

  • Direct interns, as well as contractor support as needed.
  • Manage online marketing budget.
 

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

Education:

BA/BS, MBA preferred.
 

Experience:

5+ years Internet marketing experience, including marketing operations, online marketing, email marketing, online advertising and SEO.
 
Skills and Other Requirements:
  • Track record of metrics-driven success
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with internal staff and external resources.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Someone with a "ready to help" attitude; Friendly, optimistic, energetic and passionate.
  • Strong commitment to ethics, honesty, and integrity in conducting business.
