Information and Communications Technology Services Business Development Consultant - Short Term, Full Time (6 months). Grade: 8/9 Department: Office of Information Technology
Function of the Position: DAI’s Office of Information and Management Technology (OIMT) is looking for an Information Communications Technology (ICT) Services Consultant who will provide ICT expertise to DAI for an initial short term period – 6 months (November 2012 – May 2013), with the possibility of extension or transition to full time employment. Reporting to the Senior Manager, ICT/Geo Services, the ICT Consultant will support DAI’s information technology and knowledge needs around ICT services, contribute to proposals and new business efforts, and support implement technology strategies and solutions in conjunction with DAI’s development projects and the OIMT team. This position will be based in Bethesda, Maryland.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Contribute to DAI’s new business efforts through designing and integrating ICT activities into proposals, leading small and medium proposal efforts and documenting corporate capabilities related to ICT. Monitor, participate in, and promote internal Mobiles for Development Community to strengthen knowledge sharing within DAI. In coordination with technical teams, research key technologies and partners to identify benefits and strategic fit with DAI projects’ and OIMT’s internal objectives. Monitor development industry trends related to ICT to inform ICT activity design and implementations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BA/BS in information technology, communications, international development or related field, MA or MS preferred. • Grade 8: BA/BS Degree and 5 years of experience (can be substituted with MA degree and 3 years of experience). • Grade 9: BA/BS Degree and 7 years of experience (can be substituted with MA degree and 5 years of experience). • Minimum 1 year experience in ICT4D with previous experience contributing to or writing proposals; 2-3 years preferred. • Excellent communications skills – particularly in writing and relationship building. • Knowledge of and experience with a range of hardware and software solutions including mobiles, portals, collaboration and social media tools, open source applications, and geospatial tools. • Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative and accomplish work with minimal supervision. • Must be eligible to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Understanding of the development industry business development in general including major donors (i.e. USAID, US State Department, DFID, etc.) preferred. • Experience with ICT design and implementation, and business development across a range of sectors (natural resources, health, governance, agriculture, economic growth, M&E, etc.) preferred. • Spanish, French or Arabic language skills preferred.
