Controller

Functional Area: Accounting & Finance

Organization: Turnaround for Children

Location: New York, NY

Metro Region: New York

Overview:

Turnaround for Children, Inc. (“Turnaround”) strives to fulfill the promise of public education by helping high-poverty, low-performing public schools create positive learning environments that foster healthy intellectual, social, and emotional growth in every student. Turnaround envisions an America in which every public school, in every community, enables each student to reach his or her potential as a learner and citizen. Turnaround’s model powerfully integrates social and behavioral support—not just academic support—directly into the learning environment. We work with school staff to develop the systems, resources, and knowledge and skills to address the broad and intense set of needs presented by students and staff, all in the service of creating a positive school culture and a vibrant learning community dedicated to high achievement and healthy development. Turnaround works to create a different kind of school, one with the knowledge and skills, systems and resources to provide an integrated response to the adversity in children’s lives so students can benefit from an education that truly prepares them for college, work and life.
With a central office in midtown Manhattan and programs in Harlem, the Bronx, Queens, and Washington DC, Turnaround expects to continue to grow and add programs in new areas around the Northeast next year.  To find out more about the organization, visit http://www.turnaroundusa.org.
