Regional Systems Administrator - Latin America


FINCA International, one of the world's leading microfinance institutions, provides financial services to more than 950,000 clients through 21 wholly-owned and operated subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin America and the Greater Middle East. FINCA is looking for a Regional Systems Administrator.
The Regional Systems Administrator is responsible for the technical administration of telecommunications, computer and network systems. Oversees the day to day activities for the system and is responsible for all applications present on the system. Administers related systems, including hardware, security, communications, software applications, outside communication links, licensing and any other troubleshooting activities.
Basic function:
Under supervision by Director of Regional Information Technology, the Regional Systems Administrator is responsible for following deliverables:
  • Provide needed assistance to the process of preparation and optimization of logical and physical design of Data Center and Affiliate technical infrastructure, including:
  • Hardware and software sizing
  • Communication hardware and software
  • Warranty and maintenance level
  • Organize sufficient maintenance to core banking and operational reporting infrastructure in Data Center and affiliates’ location (Windows Server operating system and system software installed in affiliate).
  • Installation and testing of procured hardware and software in Data Center location (except core banking software).
  • Installation and configuration of system software in the Data Center location:
  • Hardware firmware.
  • Operating system and drivers.
  • System patches and updates.
  • System software for data storage, tape library and other hardware equipment.
  • Organize sufficient maintenance to all hardware, software and operating systems installed in the Data Center.
  • Configure security settings on hardware, network devices and operating system levels in Data Center and affiliate in accordance with security and information protection procedures.
  • Organize sufficient maintenance server hardware installed Data Center and affiliate related to core banking application and reporting, as well as other environments managed by regional IT team.
  • Installation, update and support of anti-virus software in affiliate and data center on core banking application and reporting related servers. Monitoring and resolution of virus threats.
  • Monitor and ensure connectivity between affiliate server room and Data Center, configure and support VPN tunnels, communicate with ISPs to push issue resolution.
  • Configure CISCO network equipment (routers, switches, etc.) in Data Center, affiliates’ head offices and branches.
  • Organize sufficient maintenance to the hardware and equipment installed in regional data center:
  • Server hardware installed in Data Center.
  • SAN data storage installed in Data Center.
  • SAN switches installed in Data Center.
  • Tape library installed in Data Center.
  • Periodically review performance hardware and environment software against targets, analyze the cause of any deviations, and initiate remedial action to address the underlying causes. At appropriate times, perform root cause analysis across deviations.
Ideal profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical field.
  • Must have strong TCP/IP, datacenters and networking experience.
  • Experience configuring with Cisco routers and switches.
  • Proficient in managing and administering Windows Server, Linux.
  • Proficient with datacenter virtualization and VMWARE.
  • Experience with SANs (NetApp or EMC).
  • Knowledgeable with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft server products-
  • Network+, Linux+, CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, Security+, A+ certified or equivalent experience.
  • Familiar with Firewall technologies such as Checkpoint.
  • Excellent abilities of technical writing and documentation.
  • Ability of translating easily the needs of business in technical solutions.
  • Capacity verified to work creative and analytic in the problems solution environment.
  • Disposition to travel out of his/her place of origin up to 30% time possible.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills of English and fluent Spanish Languages; The ability to present information and ideas clearly and concisely;
  • Strong leadership skills with proven capacity to direct, to influence and to motivate the team under management.
  • Excellent capacity to present and to explain the information, persuade others and promote the understanding and the consensus.
  • Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
  • High level of energy, creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm and commitment· self-confidence and initiative
