Director of School Leadership Programs


The Director of School Leadership Programs will spearhead the strategic and operational systems of a new, premier school leadership program to respond to today's urgent demand for effective and successful instructional school leaders. As a seasoned project manager with a proven passion for closing the achievement gap, this individual will ensure flawless implementation, strategic growth, and rigorous evaluation of programs aligned to Relay GSE's vision and priorities. Working closely with the Dean of School Leadership Programs, the Director of School Leadership Programs will be responsible for creating and managing a high quality school leadership program that transforms the way leaders are prepared and supported.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop the tools and systems required to ensure strategic and scalable growth of School Leadership Programs, including but not limited to: budget, course delivery, online tools, local support, site and partner selection, and partner agreements
  • Design and develop, in partnership with Relay's Research Faculty, the key data and evaluation components necessary to continually measure the success of leadership programs via current student and alumni achievement
  • Manage Relay GSE's relationship with key external partners and funders in order to share best practices, promote Relay GSE's mission, recruit potential graduate students and adjunct professors, and nurture critical contacts
  • Design and ensure flawless execution of all logistical aspects of School Leadership Programs, including but not limited to scheduling and acquiring and creating all necessary resources
  • Collaborate with the Relay GSE NYC staff on recruitment, enrollment, communication, finance, student and staff polices, technology and facilities needs
  • Design and lead student support initiatives for all leadership graduate students, including facilitating support with other Relay teams and/or external partner organizations to ensure timely, high quality resolution for all student issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
First and foremost, the Director of School Leadership Programs must share the team's sense of urgency about the need to improve student achievement through phenomenal teacher and leader training. Additionally, candidates for the position must have the following:
  • At least six years of experience in education reform and work with schools
  • At least three years experience in project management and/or program design and evaluation, prior experience with leadership development preferred
  • Strong alignment with Relay GSE's pedagogical philosophy
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • A proven aptitude to lead, inspire and persuade others
  • An excitement to start a new venture
  • Ability to work effectively, intensely, and within an entrepreneurial environment
  • A demonstrated passion for urban education and closing the achievement gap
