Principal / Senior / Development Scientist - Adaptive Machining


Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre

The Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) is a new initiative by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in partnership with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore with cross-sectoral global companies.
By combining the Original Equipment Manufacturers' (OEMs) requirements, state-of-the-art industrial machines and the best minds in R&D, the ARTC is positioned as a centre of excellence in developing manufacturing and remanufacturing solutions, where candidate technologies are accelerated from feasibility to the threshold of production.
Since launching in May, a number of global OEMs and equipment makers have joined the ARTC as members and the purpose built facility at CleanTech Park II have commenced. CleanTech Park is Singapore's first eco-business park for companies involved in clean technologies and sustainable urban solutions. The ARTC is now entering an exciting phase of growth and we are looking for people with drive, a passion for innovation and the ability of turning ideas into practical solutions in three core technical themes of Repair & Restoration, Surface Enhancement and Product Verification technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Develop step-change improvements in adaptive machining for repair and restoration applications for cross sector industrial applications
  • Application of state-of-the-art CNC and programming technologies for adaptive machining development projects
  • Technical planning, execution and delivery of development projects for global industry members
Requirements
  • PhD Degree in Engineering or in a relevant discipline
  • Practical experience and/or expert knowledge of adaptive machining processes and its enabling technologies such tool path planning, application of point cloud engineering and dimensional control techniques
  • Experience in applying Design of Experiments to manufacturing/remanufacturing process development
  • Work experience in manufacturing and remanufacturing roles within the aerospace, MRO, oil & gas, marine, machinery, equipment and electronic sectors and/or work experience in research organizations conducting applied R&D
  • A team player and technically motivated in solving problems, innovate and deliver to customers
