The Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) is a new initiative by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in partnership with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore with cross-sectoral global companies.
By combining the Original Equipment Manufacturers' (OEMs) requirements, state-of-the-art industrial machines and the best minds in R&D, the ARTC is positioned as a centre of excellence in developing manufacturing and remanufacturing solutions, where candidate technologies are accelerated from feasibility to the threshold of production.
Since launching in May, a number of global OEMs and equipment makers have joined the ARTC as members and the purpose built facility at CleanTech Park II have commenced. CleanTech Park is Singapore's first eco-business park for companies involved in clean technologies and sustainable urban solutions. The ARTC is now entering an exciting phase of growth and we are looking for people with drive, a passion for innovation and the ability of turning ideas into practical solutions in three core technical themes of Repair & Restoration, Surface Enhancement and Product Verification technologies.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. He/ She will lead a large technical team of project managers and development scientists/engineers to deliver all technical projects conducted at ARTC for industry members in 3 key areas of Repair & Restoration, Surface Enhancement and Product Verification.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a Research Strategy (including funding options) linked to and compatible with the Business Plan and the Strategic Objectives (created by the CEO) of the ARTC
- Lead the Technical Teams to deliver all technical projects to industry members
- Identify funding opportunities and engage potential funders to access funds in support of Strategic Objectives of the ARTC
- Develop an annual Core Research Programme for the ARTC, in conjunction with the CEO and Technical Committee
- Support the development of proposals for individual research projects to meet Industrial Members' needs, identifying and drawing in external (e.g. public sector) funding streams as appropriate
- Ensure that research and technical work is managed, at all times, in a cost-effective manner within the budgets and timescales allocated to each project
Requirements
- A proven ability to develop and lead high performing technical teams to successfully deliver step-change improvements in manufacturing and remanufacturing processes/capabilities
- PhD or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 12 years' of experience working in a remanufacturing, repair, manufacturing and/or industrial R&D environment
- Relevant technical knowledge and experience in Repair & Restoration processes (e.g. Adaptive & Additive Processes), Surface Enhancement (e.g. robotic deburring, finishing) and/or Product Verification (e.g. NDE, Measurements)
