The Economic Growth (EG) Practice
The Economic Growth (EG) Practice provides services across many aspects of wealth and growth creation and private sector development. In particular we are engaged in a number of programmes that draw upon the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach. This involves working with business partners to pilot interventions (e.g. new or improved support services, new business models, new technologies, new supplier relationships, improved coordination between industry players, etc) with the potential to improve market systems and create better opportunities for the poor.

The role
An additional key Manager position within the expanding Economic Growth Practices required to lead activities relating to: new business development; delivery of consulting inputs; and management of programmes and projects. Reporting to the Practice Leader for Economic Growth, the job holder will be responsible for the finances, operational and human resources of specific programmes and projects, on time and on budget to meet project and client requirements.
 
The position requires a demonstrated ability to offer high-quality advice to clients on market and private sector development projects.
 
The person
The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and eexperience of working on private sector development projects globally employing the M4P approach, including:
  • Experience in systemic approaches to market development and/or value-chain development.
  • Proven experience of business development in the field of wealth creation and economic development.
  • Strong skills in operational and strategic management.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Working knowledge of DFID and DFID programme management systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in results measurement.
You should have tertiary qualifications in economics; development; international relations or human geography. A postgraduate qualification and work experience in a developing country would be a distinct advantage.
