Associate Director, Marketplace Analysis in Washington, D.C

Position Description:
 
Responsible for leading internal, funder, and competitive analysis to better understand our marketplace as an input to organizational strategic planning. Serves as the liaison for internal financial trend analysis, data and information. Leads a team to monitor, analyze and report on the financial and market share information within the organization by monitoring trends, identifying risks and developing strategic recommendations. Serve as a member of the Strategic Planning and Analysis team to create information and systems that provide the department and organization with information to make strategic decisions. Assists with development of department G&A budget.
 
The Associate Director, Marketplace Analysis:
  • Leads internal financial trend analysis, data and information, to advise strategies for growth, change and responsiveness to organizational business goals.
  • Provides funding landscape analysis, leading a team of analysts.
  • Provides information and makes recommendations for strategic growth, change, and decisions to meet business goals.
  • Provides complete and competitive marketplace analysis, to contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategic planning and analysis for the organization’s growth.
  • Develops, implements and trains staff on policies and procedures to achieve department and organizational goals.
  • Contributes to assessment of Business Performance Management implementation.
  • May be required to support analysis and financial oversight for Strategy Area at CSO’s discretion
  • Other duties as assigned to meet departmental goals.
 
Minimal Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in Finance, Business/ International management, Public Policy or related field.
  • A minimum of 8+ years in financial management, operational and development management functions to inform business strategies.
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
  • Experience in strategic development with resource scheduling, managing timelines, and leading team activities required.
  • Managing professional staff or comparable team management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices of strategic marketplace analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated corporate and programmatic financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent and demonstrated management, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to apply gained knowledge, experience and intuitiveness in complex, varied situations.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and manage individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and expertise, resulting in high quality and timely work delivery.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships through collaboration, negotiation and teamwork
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
  • Advanced degree (M.S., MA, and M.B.A.) or its equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
  • Experience with legacy FHI or AED business portfolio preferred.
