The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
The incumbent will provide engineering support as part of the Operations Engineering team responsible for the engineering and integrity of all physical plant and equipment.

The engineering team is responsible for ensuring all physical plant and equipment is reliable, compliant, well maintained and safe.

The incumbent will be responsible for the development brownfields project scopes for existing assets as well as support to the Production and Maintenance teams and input into design and commissioning teams for new facilities.
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities

Position Specific
This role will have key accountabilities in managing engineering issues during the Project phases to ensure a smooth transition into the Operational phase. These will include:

• Provide accurate and timely technical support to all project and operational teams;
• Develop engineering documents for the operations phase of the project;
• Assist with the development of plant and equipment maintenance strategies and procedures;
• Ensure engineering compliance (e.g., statutory requirements, JV requirements, permits, legislative approvals).
• Participate in design reviews (including Hazops and SIL reviews) during detailed design and construction;
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing on behalf of Operations;
• Work with BG corporate Engineering Technical Authorities;
• Monitor and make recommendations on technology advances.

Once into the Operations phase of the project, this role will be responsible for the provision of engineering support to the facilities. These will include:

• Responsible for managing the integrity of the plant through maintenance, inspection and engineering change control;
• Responsible for compliance with international, local and site specific standards.
• Responsible for monitoring and reporting Asset Integrity compliance
• Responsible for ensuring all modifications follow the Management of Change process
• Responsible for the timely action and closure of Engineering Change Requests
• Responsible for overseeing the reactive and preventative maintenance programs (scope and frequency) to ensure maximum facility uptime including critical function testing
• Responsible for defining scope of Shutdown and Major Maintenance activities
• Responsible for reviewing and approving the strategies for managing electrical equipment in hazardous areas
• Responsible for preparing the scopes of work for minor/medium CAPEX/OPEX work sufficient to enable cost estimates to be prepared
• Responsible for justifying current and future work programs and ensuring their inclusion in the facility budget
• Responsible for managing expenditure of approved budget items within the discipline scope of work
• Responsible for participating in or leading incident investigations

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed
• Demonstrated experience in an instrument engineering role, ideally involving the operation & maintenance of hydrocarbons plant or other installations involving large rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of a wide range of instruments for measurement, control and shutdown service including control valves, actuators, fire and gas detection.
• Experience in the delivery of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) reviews and working knowledge of IEC61511/61508
• Knowledge and experience in Foundation Fieldbus installation and configuration will be well regarded.
• Experience in management of contractors
• Experience in the development of engineering processes/procedures
• Experience with, and commitment to, engineering systems, procedures particular Asset Management and Asset Integrity
• Demonstrate experience with safety management systems and commitment to safety
• Understanding of compliance regulations – local and state authorities
 
Knowledge, Languages,
Skills and Attributes
• Tertiary instrument engineering qualification and relevant experience in operational engineering support role
• Accredited Functional Safety Engineer
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to resolve issues with third parties and contractors
• High level computing skills – Microsoft Office, and engineering maintenance systems for plant and equipment
• High level of analytical and problem solving skills
• Initiative and capacity to exercise good judgment
• Good management and supervisory skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
