QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer. QGC is establishing one of Australia’s largest capital infrastructure projects to turn our world-class reserves of coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG). Queensland Curtis LNG, a priority project for QGC, involves expanding our exploration and development in southern and central Queensland and transporting gas via a 380km buried pipeline to Curtis Island near Gladstone, where it will be liquefied. QGC operates the gas-fired Condamine Power Station, the world’s first combined-cycle power station to run entirely on coal seam gas.
Position Summary
This role has direct responsibility to the Area Operations Superintendent and also offers support to them when absent. This role will act as direct support to the Plant and Field activities. Provide prompt and reliable decision making. Be a good people manager to promote a positive workplace. Be a role model for the team. Show commitment to safety and BG / QGC systems. Ensure BG procedures and policies are supported.
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities

Position Specific 
• Supervise the allocation of work and prioritise work schedules for operations and construction activities near or on pipelines. These include:
o Approval of works
o Work planning and approvals
o Procedures and work permits
o Review, assess and issue Permits under the QGC Permit to Work system
o Development and prioritisation of work schedules
o Preparation and updating of work lists from station audits
o Coordination of ROW maintenance
o Ensure compliance to operations policy and procedure
o Assistance with field operating budget (in liaison with Manager Operations)
o Liaison with third parties related to works near or on the ROW
o Supervising training for work permitting and approvals for such
o Be available on a rostered call out for operational issues
o Supervising the allocation of work and prioritise work schedules for operations and construction activities near or in the plant
• Ensure field emergency response preparedness at all times
• Be available on call out for emergencies
• Ensure all emergency equipment is maintained, readily available and accessible 24 hours per day
• Maintain and implement adequate emergency response training for staff and externals
• Liaise with local authorities and all stakeholders on methods of emergency response
• Advise Management on emergency response needs
• Promote the identity and safe operations of the pipeline and monitor community activity along the pipeline route
• Monitor and prepare for encroachment issues
• Provide regular presentations to stakeholders on the dangers of working near high pressure pipelines and promote do's and don'ts
• Participate in community activities to heighten the awareness of the pipeline
• Arrange representation in community activities
• Establish, implement and monitor quality plans to ensure the integrity and safety of the pipeline in accordance with the pipeline licence, standards and codes
• Develop and implement field standard systems, and procedures
• Review policies and statements, control documents and records management for adherence to the quality plan
• Monitor records management strategies and quality of documentation
• Monitor compilation and closure of field works action lists and incident reports
• Establish and implement field KPI management

People Management• Promote a positive, team oriented work culture
• Develop and monitor staff competencies so they are up to date and relevant to the current pipelines format
• Supervise induction program for new starters and contractors
• Review and implement field employee training and development programs
• Ensure effective knowledge transfer processes
• Promote cooperation and communication within the team
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience
• Significant experience in a field based, asset management position
• High level of high pressure gas experience
• Sound experience with work planning/scheduling/budgeting.
• Competent in risk assessment and evaluation with respect to safe work systems
• Experience managing operating budgets
• Experience with emergency response training, planning and simulation activities
• Experience leading a small project team to deliver a campaign
• Has been member of a project team at design or execute phase 
 
Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes• High level of knowledge in operation field practices and procedures
• Permit Authority Certificate
• Sound knowledge of pipeline regulation
• Mechanical Trade background
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• High level interpersonal skills
• Good computing skills
• Strong knowledge of environmental health & safety legislation
• High commitment to safety, the environment and to cultural issues
• Initiative and capacity to exercise judgement
• Ability to supervise and motivate staff
• Ability to supervise emergency response
• Efficiency with work planning/optimisation
• Commitment to systems, procedures and quality assurance
