Senior Adviser, Resilience & Humanitarian Response, BBC Media Action

Please note that we have one continuing (permanent) and 1 maternity cover (7months) contract available. Please indicate your preference in this application, including if you are interested in both.
BBC Media Action (formerly BBC World Service Trust) is the independent international charity of the BBC which uses media to advance development worldwide. Our mission is to improve the quality of people's lives in developing and transitional countries through innovative use of media. We do this through our focus on governance and rights, health, resilience and humanitarian response. Our resilience and humanitarian response work aims to increase people's ability to secure food and water, improve their economic security and opportunities, reduce their risk to disaster, and increase their ability to survive and cope with humanitarian emergencies. As Senior Adviser, Humanitarian Response based in London, you’ll strengthen our organisation through the application of our approach to resilience and humanitarian response throughout our work.
Role As Senior Adviser, Resilience and Humanitarian Response, you will be responsible for applying our approach to resilience and humanitarian response to the organisation's work. Therefore, you'll work intensively with country teams to devise new resilience and humanitarian response projects, whilst guiding and supporting our teams to deliver high-impact projects in some of the least developed countries in the world. Playing a key role in our programme of policy engagement, you'll represent the organisation externally at major events and meetings as well as support high-profile policy publications.
Requirements With strong experience of working with media and communication to improve resilience and humanitarian response, you'll have an extensive contact list and networks within the field. Your capacity to exercise intellectual leadership in these areas and to understand and engage with relevant external research and policy agendas is essential, as is your capacity to link these creatively to our programming and thinking. As expected in a role such as this, we also need your strong project management and leadership skills alongside strong writing skills with attention to detail.
