Position Summary
This is a Head office position working within the Maintenance group based in Reading.  The primary purpose of the position is to work in support of the 'Inspection Programme' to drive improvement in the delivery and execution of the Inspection Management process in BG Assets with the aim of improving efficiency, reducing loss and improving the integrity of facilities. This will involve working with central functions and worldwide BG Assets to develop and embed BG Group standards and guidelines covering inspection and testing of in-service equipment. Another key element of the position will be to develop and embed a performance management element to the inspection management process through the reporting and analysis of key performance indicators.
Key Accountabilities
Health, Safety and Environment

  • To ensure that all inspection activities are planned to deliver high standards of health, safety and environmental performance, in accordance with all legislative requirements and in line with industry best practice
  • To develop a positive HSSE culture amongst al of the staff and contractors involved in the planning and execution of Inspection activities
Governance, Standards & Guidelines
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead the development and ongoing maintenance of BG Group Standards and Guidelines associated with inspection planning and management
  • Ensure key Asset personnel are familiar with the BG Standards and Guidelines for maintenance and inspection excellence and provide support and coaching to embed best practice
  • Participate and lead Inspection assessments and broader maintenance compliance and PEER reviews
Performance Management
  • Establish 'performance management' processes and practice for Inspection
  • Act as the focal point to collate, report and analyse Asset Inspection Management performance data.
  • Manage and report Inspection KPI's into global scorecard and into Operations dashboard. 
  • Identify areas for improvement and work with Assets to improve delivery.
Development and Execution of Inspection Plans
  • Support and coach Assets in RBA techniques and the development and ongoing optimisation of Inspection Plans
  • Coach Assets in the use of the Work Management System to effectively plan, schedule and execute Inspection work
  • Ensure processes are in place to identify shutdown dependent Inspection activities and to ensure these are built into shutdown plans.
  • Monitor and drive the 'Anomaly management' process to ensure issues are being closed out in a timely manner and no later than the next shutdown.
Technical Support:
  • Provide technical support and guidance on the development and execution of Inspection Plans/Written Schemes of Examinations, including Risk Based Assessment
  • Provide technical support and guidance on inspection techniques, ensuring that techniques utilised are aligned to the identified degradation mechanisms.
Business Performance and Continuous Improvement
  • Act as the focal point with Production Excellence to identify, understand and act on Group losses associated with Inspection and Integrity.
  • Participate and lead investigations and Root Cause Failure Analysis for loss incidents associated with Inspection and integrity
  • Responsible for working with Assets to collate and share 'lessons learned' across the Group
Technology
  • Keep abreast of technology in the field of Inspection. Seek ideas for future technology projects and manage within technology program.
  • Raise awareness and promote the use of latest technologies in the Assets in order to reduce risk to personal and to increase productivity.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience needed:
  • experienced in Operating onshore and offshore oil and gas processing facilities
  • experienced in managing Inspection programmes within Operations
  • experience of participation and , ideally, leading Risk Based Assessment exercises. 
  • experience of a breadth of Inspection technologies.
  • experience of Work Management - planning, scheduling and execution.
  • experience of Work Management systems.
  • experience of shutdown planning and management.
  • experience of industry standard Risk Based Assessment inspection systems
  • experience of working with Contractors providing Inspection services
  • experience of Performance management and continuous improvement within the area of Inspection.
  • experience in communicating with key stakeholders across the business
Education / knowledge required:
  • A degree qualified engineer with professional recognition or equivalent is preferred
  • Technical professional in the application of Asset Integrity and Inspection Management processes
  • Proficient in the application of functional assurance processes
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes
  • Knowledge of Inspection management processes
  • Knowledge of Inspection technologies.
  • Knowledge of Risk based Inspection
Candidates should have the following professional attributes:
  • Proven skills in core expertise, influencing stakeholders and underpinning technologies
  • Competent to lead a team
  • The skill and presence to influence other disciplines to change behaviours and practices with regard maintenance and inspection management to increase Asset performance.
