The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
Provide well designs and drilling programmes for QGC
Review well design and drilling techniques and implement studies to ensure constant design and operational improvement with multi-discipline asset teams
Ensure well designs and drilling operations are in accordance with BG minimum standards
Optimise methods and options for drilling deviated and horizontal wells
Review and recommend non-conventional drilling methods i.e. underbalanced drilling, drilling with casing etc
Following well design studies prepare new rig specifications to meet drilling requirements
Deputise for the Drilling Technology Team Leader as required
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities

Position Specific

• Ensure that all drilling operations performed in compliance with the approved QGC Project and BG Policies. These include, but are not limited to, directives/policy on business ethics, security, health, safety and the environment.
• Provide engineering support to contracting activities. Prepare technical scopes of work for all drilling related third party services and drilling service contracts in line with the tendering strategy.
• Carry out the technical evaluation of third party services and drilling service contract tenders in line with the tendering strategy.
• Control, maintain and report on the progress during drilling operations.
• Carry out the necessary engineering calculations and studies to ensure that drilling objectives are met in the most efficient manner whilst ensuring that the risks of unplanned release of fluids from the well are ALARP.
• Ensure that lessons learnt are recorded and implemented.
• Strive to improve well design and non conventional drilling operations by introducing appropriately researched new technology, applications, procedures and methods.
• Ensure Asset compliance with BG Group systems and procedures and Government legislative requirements.
• Ensure service providers’ compliance with BG Group systems and procedures.
• Review drilling time estimates and costs for AFE purposes.
• Review drilling program interfaces and ensure compliance with completion objectives.
• Maintain close liaison with sub-surface and project specialists.
• Fully document the well design and design studies.
• Provide support to the Drilling Team Leader.
• Manage the post-well operations reporting process to ensure the optimisation of operational data collation and interrogation to be used for continuous design and operational improvement.
• Review and assist with dispensation request preparation.
• Manage the peer review of well designs, planning and operational programming and budget to ensure incorporation of best methods and optimum solutions.
• Work with the project and sub-surface teams to ensure well designs and operational techniques are continuously reviewed and optimised.
• Deputise as required for the Drilling Team Leader.

People Management
• The incumbent must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed: 
• Relevant degree, equivalent qualification or relevant experience
• Significant relevant industry experience
• Must be able to identify useful developing technologies or techniques and devise studies to prove their usefulness and cost benefits

Special Features
