The British Antarctic Survey (BAS), part of the Natural Environment Research Council, conducts a world-class programme of scientific research and ensures that the UK enjoys a leading role in Polar affairs.
Handling people issues in an organisation as complex as BAS can be challenging, but rewarding. Our circa 500 strong team includes everyone from scientists, to trades people, mariners and pilots. The challenge becomes greater when your workforce is split between Cambridge and five research stations in the most inhospitable place on earth. Crucially, you have the strength of character and professional credentials to maximise the impact of HR, within our globally-respected organisation.
Reporting to the Head of HR, you will be an experienced HR generalist with developed skills in policy implementation, budgetary control, and management information reporting. Experience of working in L&D and Reward Management within a shared service environment is desirable.
You will be CIPD qualified (or equivalent) with strong team management skills, a flexible approach, and proven problem-solving ability. In return, we offer an excellent career opportunity and rewards package, along with the opportunity to visit Antarctica.
