Project Co-ordinator – Engaging Men & Youth


CARE International Sri Lanka is a non-profit non-governmental agency that has been working on poverty and social injustice issues in Sri Lanka for the last 60 years. Operating in the districts of Hambantota, Monaragala, Batticaloa, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Nuwara Eliya and Polonnaruwa, it implements a diverse programming portfolio. We are seeking to fill the following position for our “Empowering Men to Engage and Redefine Gender Equality” (EMERGE) project. The primary aim of the project is to work with men and boys as catalysts who would help promote attitudes and behaviors within their societies that promotes respect for equity and appreciates diversity. The project will run through December 2014 and will operate in all of CARE existing operational areas, as well as at the national and global level.
The candidate will be primarily responsible for leading, implementing, coordinating, monitoring and reporting project related activities and represent the organization at divisional level. As well as related implementation and coordination mechanisms including the following: •Develop implementation plan with key partners •Monitor progress of implementation with regular review meetings, field visits and discussions with beneficiaries •Provide technical guidance on how to engage men and youth in the respective localities for partners •Conduct capacity building training on gender equality, engaging men and youth and Gender Based Violence for local stakeholders and partners

Essential •Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or similar fields
•Minimum 3 years working in the development or humanitarian sector •Strong analytical & report-writing skills •Must be fluent in English (written and verbal) and Tamil language fluency is compulsory / Sinhala language is desirable. •Excellent leadership, negotiation, relationship-building and communication skills. •Able to travel by motorbike to the fields in the district •Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively by support, facilitation, and co-ordination. •Proven initiative, flexibility and ability to prioritize in a demanding environment and to tight deadlines
