Senior Architect

Introduction

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Architect.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating design with direct and indirect users; producing plans for new facilities and the  modification of existing premises - some entailing very high technical requirement; helping users write design briefs and formulating user requirements; reviewing designs done by consulting architects and comparing it with the user requirements & university design policies and design standards; assessing quality of architectural related work at site; monitoring coordination issues of consultants and contractors of all trades; reviewing conformity with relation to samples, mock-ups, materials; and ensuring adherence to specified procedural issues. Other responsibilities would include: Designing modifications to existing premises which includes helping users formulate user requirements; Preparing schematic and detailed designs on CAD which are fully coordinated for engineering services including HVAC, plumbing, medical gases and electrical requirements; Specifying material for use and ensuring adherence to agreed time schedule for design; The incumbent will also be responsible for reviewing design of capital projects (both schematic and detailed designs) on the basis of design brief, space programme and user requirements and ensuring adherence to AKU's design philosophies and recommending any changes proposed; Liaising with architects and engineering consultants and giving timely reviews of all drawings, documents, samples, mock-ups and materials;

Requirements

​Bachelor’s degree in architecture. Minimum of 9 to 10 years’ related experience. Have full command on the use of Auto Cad. Prepare 3D views on Sketch-up and 3-D max. Prepare presentations on Power-point. Have basic knowledge of Excel and Word
