The Chief of Party is responsible for ensuring successful implementation of the project including leading, managing and coordinating large scale reproductive health communications, service delivery, quality assurance and M&E programs. This position will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal and will report to the Country Representative. *Contingent on Funding
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the development, management and implementation of the Reproductive Health and Family Planning program
• Serve as the donor’s main point of contact on the program
• Offer guidance in development, implementation and management of evidence-based programming that is in line with organizational and international best practices, national health plans, and PSI strategic plans
• Assist in design, implementation and oversight of research activities, working closely with research and marketing units to assure research is driving an evidence based approach
• Develop and manage donor budgets
• Ensure the effective use and coordination of donor resources and the compliance of the financial systems and controls with relevant donor standards
• Ensure submission of internal and external reports as well as responses to requests by donors, government, and partners
• Coordinate and/or review donor reports, including financial and other reports as required by donors and PSI • Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategic plan and participate actively in PSI/Nepal’s senior management team
• Contribute to the development of donor reports, proposals, success stories, publications etc.
• Coordinate and share best practices and lessons learned documentation
• Develop and maintain strong external relations, in particular with government, donors, and public and private sector partners
• Strengthen the capacity of and transfer skills to local staff to independently implement, manage and improve business practice and technical services
• Continuously assess the progress of teams and individuals and strengthen the capacity of communications, quality assurance and M&E staff to achieve project deliverables on time and within budget and to achieve measurable health impact
• Assist the Country Representative with other duties as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s degree in Public Health or Business Administration or a related degree
• Minimum 10 years of experience in implementation and management of international development projects with 5 years at a managerial level
• Experience in programmatic and financial management of large donor funded RH/FP programs
• Exceptional managerial and operational experience, preferably managing complex programs
• Experience in social franchising, social marketing and/or behavioral change communications
• Proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of methodologies in research and marketing
• Ability to represent PSI at the highest levels of government and partner organizations
• Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
• Ability to work efficiently and quickly in a fast paced environment
• Experience working in Nepal and greater South Asia strongly preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English; fluency in Nepali preferred
