Primary Tasks:
In a workshop and office environment:
- To repair, maintain and operate existing BGS marine geophysical and remotely operated drilling equipment sampling, drilling, and other geoscientific equipment
- To assist in the specification and procurement, including where appropriate design and assembly, of new equipment for marine geoscience applications
Offshore (typically between 60 and 90 days per year):
- To participate in team operations, contributing to that team and directing shift operations as required
- To operate and maintain BGS marine geophysical and remotely operated drilling equipment sampling, drilling, and other geoscientific equipment on projects worldwide
Other Tasks:
- To assist in the day-to-day running of the BGS marine operations team including H&S duties, planning and project management associated with all activities
- To report on designs and operations through internal and external reports and presentations, and appropriate publications
