Programme support officer, Partnership programme agreement

More than half the world lives in poverty. We aim to put a stop to that. So we campaign against the inequalities that keep people poor and we work with local organisations to give people strength to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion. If you’re as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen.
You’ll be part of the DFID funded Partnership Programme Agreement team providing the necessary systems and administrative support to the PPA to make sure it runs smoothly. You will monitor project implementation and ensure that projects are implemented according to agreed plans. You may also be required to report to donors on plans and project outcomes. As sound systems are key to good project management and programme implementation, you will monitor their success and be ready to provide the necessary support both in the UK and overseas. You may have to travel for up to 30 days in a year.
It’s essential that you have plenty of experience of developing and implementing systems and ensuring that they are working well and understood by all. You are the kind of person who understands the importance of making systems work in challenging environments. You will have a track record of developing and implementing financial and administrative systems and an ability to report to donors. You will have a knowledge and understanding of international humanitarian standards and promoting accountability. You will have worked in roles where you have had to manage complex tasks and to take initiative to solve issues as they arise. You are likely to have worked in the NGO sector or with an international organisation. Whatever your background you’ll be able to interact with a wide cross section of people both in the UK and in other parts of the world. Your ability to work in French or Spanish will be an advantage in this role.
Please show your suitability for this post by addressing the criteria identified in the role profile. In particular please answer the following three competency-based questions. Using the guidance notes may help you formulate your answers.
Steward resources
Tell us about a time when you had to estimate the resources you needed to achieve your own work objectives and then delivered them in an efficient and cost effective way.
Deliver results
Tell us about a time when you proactively planned, prioritised and monitored your own work to meet the team’s objectives to the standards required.
Strive for improvement
Please tell us about a time when you have identified a better way of doing something having taken into account the implications of your proposal.
We value the contribution each person makes to the success of our organisation. That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, a season ticket loan and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance.
As this post is UK based, non-EC nationals will require current and valid permission to work in the UK.
