CARE is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to generate visibility for CARE’s work and initiatives, enhance the organization’s reputation and communicate with impact. S/he performs a variety of activities in support of media relations, from digging for information inside CARE to developing communications materials. The position has a special focus on emergencies. The Senior Communications Officer must be prepared for deployment to CARE’s emergency responses in support of communications. S/he is responsible for developing materials for use around disaster anniversaries and other emergency-focused efforts.

Operations Manager - Yemen ADEN Opportunity

About the Job: 
MEDA is looking for an Operations Manager - Yemen ADEN. Under the supervision of managing director, s/he will be accountable for office administration, procurement, and partner coordination.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensuring effective set-up and transition of the fund ADEN to selected FI partner;
  • Consistent with MEDA standards, donor requirements, and local laws;
  • Assist in initial market research/studies for financial services and developing technical approaches and materials for capacity building initiatives.
Qualifications: 
  • University degree, ideally a Masters, and ideally combining the disciplines of Finance, Business Administration, International Economic Development (or related field);
  • Proven track record of at least 3 years experience in project development, management, and implementation, in the fields of business management, financial services, accounting, international business, or related field;
  • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience in Yemen is highly preferred;
  • Understanding of bi- and multi-lateral government agencies, donors (particularly EC, DFID, USAID), non-governmental organizations and other development agencies working in Yemen's microfinance sector;
  • Excellent skills in relationship building, intercultural engagement, networking and interpersonal communication, negotiation, and leadership;
  • Skills to work with tools such as multi-media presentations, word processing, and complex spread sheets and email. Excellent writing skills are required;
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-past, constantly changing program;
  • Fluency in Arabic and previous work experience in Yemen or MENA region is required.

Lecturer/Associate Professor Positions in Digital Media and Journalism


Department of English, Culture and Communication

Applications are invited for positions in the Department of English, Culture and Communication at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. The Department specialises in applied linguistics, literary and cultural studies, and communication and media. It currently has 14 academic staff and over 400 students.
Successful applicants will have, or expect shortly to receive, a PhD, or be able to demonstrate appropriate professional experience. Applicants will have good teaching experience and evidence of the ability to produce high quality research publications. Candidates for the position of Associate Professor should also have a strong track record in teaching and academic supervision, as well as an international research profile in their field and a successful record of research funding. Candidates with teaching and research interests in new and digital media, media and globalization, and journalism are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience in developing and managing Masters programmes would also be well regarded. 
Xi'an Jiaotong- Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a unique collaborative institution, the first and currently the only university in China to offer both UK (University of Liverpool) and Chinese (Ministry of Education) accredited undergraduate degrees. Formed in 2006, the first cohort of students graduated in August 2010. The University now has 6,000 students studying on campus. The language of instruction in Years 2 to 4 is English. XJTLU aims to become truly research-led, and has recently committed significant investment into research development and the expansion of PhD student numbers on campus.

Overseas staff may receive a tax "holiday" of up to three years, depending on nationality and personal circumstances.

Information and Data Management Volunteer


The DRMU Information and data Management Volunteer will be responsible for compiling and maintaining a project database, collating information on the department’s grants and proposals. The role with require data analysis to support the department’s planning process and other initiatives. Where required, the volunteer will provide general support to the day to day running of the DRM Unit.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of using Microsoft office, particularly excel. You will have the ability to manage and analyse data, with good attention to detail using your initiative.
We are looking for someone who can spend 3 days a week with us for a minimum of 3 months. We can be flexible with days.

Press Officer - International Agency for Research on Cancer

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The Communications (COM) Group forms an integral part of the Director's Office and is responsible for the presentation of a homogeneous image of all aspects of IARC work to the scientific community, the media, and the general public.
Description of duties:
Under the supervision of IARC's Communications Group Head, the work includes developing, planning and executing media and public relation products, tools and services to inform general and specialized publics about IARC programs, activities and accomplishments by:

- implementing IARC's media strategy in support of the COM strategy,

- generating regular corporate public relations and communication products including information for events, information for electronic media, and hard media,

- suggesting approaches for disseminating coherent, organization-wide and rapid responses and statements on Agency positions,

- creating and posting content for podcasts, press releases, webinars or social media networking platforms - working in close collaboration with the Institutional Webmaster,

- assists in developing contacts and relationships with media representatives,

- facilitating the dissemination of agency and program information through the mass media, e.g. by writing press releases, organizing events including press conferences, open days and press tours, and designing global campaigns to enable the public to better understand IARC's role,

- monitoring, analyzing and reporting on coverage of IARC in the media and its impact,

- ensuring the dissemination of the EXPOsOMICS project findings through: engaging European stakeholders via regular updates and dissemination results; using a variety of modern communications tools (web-based, social media, etc.); participating in key meetings of EXPOSOMICS partners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Journalism degree from a recognized University.

Desirable: Formal training in communications, media relations or public relations.
Skills:
The candidate must have:
- Proven knowledge of the full range of communication approaches, tools, and methodologies.
- Excellent knowledge of the principles and practices of journalism and of public relations.
- Extensive working knowledge of the media and media relations, including new online media.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts and recommendations, in a clear and persuasive manner that is tailored to match different audiences and media; excellent writing ability in journalistic style.
- Proven ability to position issues effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to formulate, develop and deliver proposals for media outreach to highlight IARC activities.

Missions du stagiaire

Le stagiaire participera aux activités du pôle communication et partenariats, notamment en aidant à la mise en œuvre:

  • de la stratégie de communication sur les réseaux sociaux;
  • des événements (conférences, débats, etc.) organisés par Toute l’Europe et ses partenaires;

Il sera plus particulièrement impliqué dans la communication autour des projets suivants: Serious Game sur la Politique agricole commune, plateforme Rencontrez l’Europe, et site Parlement européen en action.

Il/elle sera placé(e) sous la responsabilité de la Responsable des partenariats et de la communication.

Le/la stagiaire sera amené à

  • participer à la mise en œuvre de campagnes de communication autour de projets spécifiques;
  • prendre part à la communication des contenus et produits de Toute l’Europe, notamment sur les réseaux sociaux;
  • participer à l’organisation des débats ou conférences de Toute l’Europe;
  • rechercher des contacts pertinents en fonction des projets et établir des fichiers complets;

  • prendre part aux relations avec les médias (constitution de fichiers presse, envoi de communiqués, relances téléphoniques, etc.);

Formation et compétences requises

  • Etudiant (niveau BAC + 4/5) en Institut d’études politiques, communication ou journalisme;
  • Très bonne culture web et média ; excellente maîtrise des outils du web participatif, blogosphère, réseaux sociaux, etc.;
  • Intérêt pour l'Europe et capacité à identifier rapidement les acteurs évoluant dans cette sphère (institutionnels, associations, médias, etc.);
  • Dynamisme, sens du contact et excellentes capacités relationnelles ; ainsi qu’une aptitude à travailler en équipe;
  • Bon niveau d'anglais ; un bon niveau d’allemand, à l’écrit comme à l’oral, sera un atout;
