Assistant Manager Fund Accounting required by Global Leader
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the operational workflows of an Accounting and Valuations team, to ensure that all service delivery KPIs are achieved.
  • To review and sign off valuations in an accurate and timely manner
  • To ensure all reconciliations have been accurately reviewed and reported.
  • Maintain and enhance the service delivery through effective and continual interaction with clients and coordination of the team delivering the service.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures, full documentation of procedures and assist with development, enhancement and implementation of best working practice.
  • Contribute to the effective management and leadership of staff, including training, development and motivation.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Participate in regular Service Level Reviews with clients.
  • To assist in the co-ordination of fund launches, transfers, liquidations for allocated clients.
  • Represent the department across the company and participate in initiatives and ongoing projects.
  • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Maintain Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
  • To communicate on a timely basis with the department management regarding the day to day running of the section and regarding any issues that arise.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Relevant experience in a Fund Accounting and Valuations department.
  • Educated to an honours degree level, ideally with a Business/Accountancy qualification.
  • Awareness of the key issues/ risks within Fund Administration.
  • Demonstrate team building and leadership skills with ability to motivate staff and achieve objectives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Finance Controller

IRC has been active in Pakistan since 1980, mobilizing and empowering Afghan refugees and earthquake-affected Pakistani communities to take a proactive role in the provision and development of essential services. Today, IRC Pakistan works in partnership with local government and non-governmental organizations to manage and deliver large, complex programs to meet needs and support community building in a variety of sectors, including education, water and sanitation, reproductive health, women’s and children’s protection and empowerment, food security, and economic recovery and development.
IRC is seeking a Financial Controller for a United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded project to support Pakistani-led efforts to introduce and institutionalize improvements in reading instruction and reading assessment in grades one through five in public and private schools throughout Pakistan. The Financial Controller will have overall policy and management responsibility for the finance and accounting functions for the country program under the leadership of the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for Operations. The Finance Controller’s responsibilities will include general controllership, staff training, management, treasury and budget functions. This position is contingent on IRC being awarded funding and is anticipated to begin in April 2013.
Job Responsibilities: • Ensure that all policies and procedures are in compliance with USAID policies, procedures, and requirements; • As required and in collaboration with the DCOP, establish finance and supporting function policies, systems and procedures, and directs or performs their development, documentation, and implementation; • Manage the project finance activities and schedules to meet the financial reporting requirements and deadlines specified by USAID; • Identify requirements for and develop reporting formats to aid in the management of project operations and expenditures; • Provide project management and staff with monthly actual-to-budget expenditure reports and analysis; • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly and on a timely basis and review final reconciliations and trial balances with the DCOP; • Closely monitor all financial activities, and proactively keep the DCOP advised of all situations which have the potential for a negative impact on internal controls or financial performance; • Under the leadership of the DCOP, direct the preparation of and approval of all donor financial reports in respect to accounting, legal and contractual requirements; • Oversee the protection of the project’s assets (cash, inventory, NEP) through the enforcement of internal control policies and procedures; • Maintain current knowledge of local government requirements related to financial matters and ensures compliance with tax regulations and other legal requirements; • Supervise all project bank relations and bank account activities including negotiation of fees, interest and currency exchange rates; • Establish project policies regarding cash holding limits, cash movements and foreign currency holdings; • Design, implement, and monitor systems, procedures and reporting necessary to maintain on current basis accurate forecasts of cash requirements for meeting future spending, including commitments entered into and which obligate the project to future spending; • With the DCOP, ensure the development and implementation of a plan to minimize the project’s foreign exchange exposure to currency gains and losses; • Supervise the collection of contractual and other receivables.
Requirements: • A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance with a recognized professional certificate in accounting such as CPA, or a Masters degree in Accounting. • Minimum of eight years of managerial experience in the financial area of a non-profit organization or ten years of managerial experience in finance in an international commercial organization. • Extensive experience in working with computerized accounting systems, standard spreadsheet and database programs (SUN System and Vision); • Significant experience managing financial systems on large scale education projects, particularly across culturally and geographically disparate regions; • Excellent teamwork including abilities to coordinate well with diverse individuals and teams and to negotiate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve results; • Previous experience working with USAID-funded programs preferred; • Strong communication skills, both oral and written; • Fluency in English and Urdu is required.

Chief Financial Officers (CFO), Eurasia

FINCA International, one of the world's leading microfinance institutions, provides financial servies to more than 950,000 clients through 21 wholly-owned and operated subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin American and the Greater Middle East. FINCA International is currently looking for Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) for its subsidiaries in Eurasia, based in one of the countries of operation in the region. The CFO is directly responsible for managing all finance and accounting activities of a FINCA subsidiary, and supervises its entire financial staff. S/he will ensure that the finance activities will support the FINCA subsidiary in pursuing its mission with a minimum of risk and a maximum of efficiency. As a member of the Management Team, s/he shares responsibility for the overall performance and activities of the FINCA subsidiary, and participates in making decisions on material issues.
Ideal profile:
- Degree in Accounting with CPA/ACCA or Chartered Accountancy equivalent required, Master’s Degree is preferred,
- Minimum experience of 5 years,
- International experience desirable, exposure working in the region an asset,
- Extensive experience in best-practice financial management of a company, desirably a bank or other regulated financial institution, experience working for the big 4 audit firms an asset,
- Financial analysis-long/med/short term financial planning,
- Experience working with US GAAP or IFRS, knowledge of local statutory accounting standards a plus,
- Demonstrated abilities in budget preparation and management, and general ledger management,
- Treasury management,
- Thorough understanding of operational risk of a financial institution,
- Proficient in MS Office suite, good understanding of IT issues and the role and possibilities of IT in financial management, familiarity with implementing and working with complex integrated management information and accounting systems (including database management),
- Fluency in English and Russian required.
