Overview

Ten scholarships of £5,000 each, funded by Santander Group, are available for taught Masters study at Essex for 2013-14. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, to students who would not otherwise be able to take up a place at Essex. Applicants must reside in one of the following "Santander Universidades" countries:

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela.

Applicants must hold an offer of admission to a one year full time Masters programme in any subject by the closing date of 31 May 2013; the offer can be unconditional or conditional. Application forms and further details are available on our website.  Applications will only be submitted to the selection panel if the applicant meets the eligibility criteria and holds an offer of study for a taught postgraduate place by the closing date of 31 May 2013. We will use the information you provided on your original course application and your scholarship application to select the successful scholars. The final selection is made by a panel of academic and administrative staff of the University of Essex. Successful candidates will be notified by 1 August 2013.

Un Médico (H/M) - Colombia

La población civil es víctima del conflicto entre las guerrillas, los grupos paramilitares y el ejército. A menudo, necesitada de recursos, la población cede y se desplaza. En la lucha por el control del territorio y de la población, todos los grupos armados han sido acusados en algún momento de violaciones de los derechos humanos y del Derecho Internacional Humanitario.

En el contexto de un problema identificado de acceso a la atención sanitaria interrumpido por el conflicto, las mujeres, los niños y los adultos enfermos especialmente frágiles en un contexto de violencia, necesitan el apoyo de nuestra labor humanitaria.

DESCRIPCION DEL PUESTO :

Atención medica a población vulnerable en el marco del proyecto de “Promoción del acceso a la salud de la población rural afectada por el conflicto armado en el departamento del Meta y Guaviare, Colombia ».

Y más particularmente :

1.Servicios de salud móviles: - Coparticipa dentro del equipo sanitario en la planificación y desarrollo de las actividades de salud primaria dirigidas a la comunidad. - Define la interlocución con las instituciones presentes en la zona de intervención. En coordinación con el CP y el resto del equipo Maneja unas interlocuciones, en colaboración con médicos nacionales. - Recopila, sistematiza y analiza información sobre las actividades realizadas. En colaboración con el resto del equipo sanitario. Comparte la información con la coordinación de programa a través de los reuniones y informes post-servicios móviles y informes escritos (semestrales y anuales). - Respeta e interactúa con la medicina tradicional.

2.Actividades de salud : - Evalúa las necesidades en salud, planifica y organiza los servicios móviles de salud primaria. En coordinación con el equipo médico. - Implementa los servicios móviles de salud primaria (integral y diferencial) en las zonas elegidas. - Respeta e interactúa con la medicina tradicional. - Apoya en los diagnósticos comunitarios en salud. - Planifica e implementa conjuntamente con el equipo sanitario programas de capacitación dirigidos a la comunidad.

3.Comunicación-Seguridad : - Respeta las normas de seguridad vigente en MDM. - Participa activamente en las reuniones de equipo. - Reporta diariamente la situación del equipo y comunica al CP eventos y situaciones de seguridad. - Participa conjuntamente con el CP y el equipo en el análisis del contexto de la zona de trabajo.

Requisitos profesionales para el puesto:

• Que sea una médica/o con perfil asistencialista y experiencia o conocimientos en atención materno-infantil, conocimientos básicos de las patologías comunes que afectan a la población y aptitud a respetar las normas colombianas.

• Con capacidad o experiencia en actividades de capacitación para el personal de salud y la población general, mujeres en particular.

• Experiencia previa de trabajo en ONG en zona de conflicto es un “plus”.

Idiomas :

• Dominio del Español (oral y escrito) obligatorio
• Inglés o Francés deseable

Requisitos personales:

• Capacidades de trabajo y adaptación en situaciones difíciles: stress, presencia de personas armadas y población en desplazamiento.

• Capacidad de adaptarse a normas de seguridad estrictas.

• Capacidad de trabajo y vida en equipo.

• Experiencia en interrelaciones con personal de salud local es deseable.

• Actitud de adaptación, flexibilidad y reactividad adecuada ante los cambios del contexto local.

• Capacidad de comunicar y contactar principalmente con la población beneficiaria y el personal de salud colombiano.

• Voluntad de respetar la medicina tradicional muy utilizada por la población y los agentes tradicionales, en especial las parteras.

• Saber conducir y contar con licencia de conducir internacional.

• Fuerte motivación asociativa y adhesión a los valores de MdM

Colombia Country Director

NRC has had a presence in Colombia since 1991, initially through support to local organizations and within the PCS consortium (Project Counselling Service), and since 2005, as an independent NGO implementing Education and ICLA (Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance) projects in areas of the country affected by internal displacement. With support from its main office in Bogota, NRC implements programme activities in the provinces of Norte de Santander (Cucuta), Magdalena (Santa Marta) and Nariño (Pasto). In addition, NRC is running a refugee programme in Ecuador, Venezuela and Panama for Colombian refugees. The NRC programme in Colombia is funded by the Norwegian MFA, NORAD, SIDA, DFID, CIDA, and ECHO.

All project activities in Colombia and the border countries aim to reinforce the displaced population's capacity to ensure its own protection, to contribute to the reinforcement of civil society and government insitutions at a local and central level, as well as to support the elaboration of public policy actively protecting the rights of IDPs and refugees. Projects are generally implemented in partnership with local and international organizations and are reinforced by active advocacy work

Job description ■The main objective for the Country Director is to lead NRC’s overall activities in Colombia and the border countries (Panama, Ecuador and Venezuela) within the given objectives and framework, and the authorities given by NRC’s head office in Oslo. The Country Director should represent and attend to NRC’s interests in the area ■Ensure that NRC´s country programme develops in line with NRC’s mandate, policies and country specific strategies ■Ensure that NRC´s country programme is managed in accordance with NRC´s policies and guidelines ■Ensure that NRC´s programme activities do not overlap with other organisations activities and that interests of the target group are safeguarded in the country ■Ensure that the NRC country programme contributes to NRC´s advocacy efforts, nationally, regionally and internationally ■Be responsible for the safety and security of NRC personnel employed in the country programme
