POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Agricultural Specialist
LOCATION: Jakarta, Indonesia
UNIT: Clean Energy Group

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Winrock is seeking Agricultural Specialist candidates for a renewable energy and agriculture development program. The program will consist of cross-cutting activities that link renewable energy technology with agricultural production needs to achieve socio-economic goals principally in rural areas. Citizens of Indonesia residing in Indonesia are encouraged to apply.
Position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Provide technical leadership for all agricultural and horticultural project activities  Assess and identify agriculture sites for the program  Work with input and service providers to identify crops and varieties  Assess production technology and inputs required  Identify opportunities for diversified agriculture synergy  Work closely with other members of the local team and international STTAs across multidisciplinary disciplinary areas to ensure integrated results  Manage the work of an agricultural assistant and short term specialists as it relates to agriculture  Ensure women and marginalized groups are beneficiaries of the project.  Provide input for preparation of annual work plans and progress reports, and monitor the implementation of these plans within the agro-economic project activities.  Provide input for preparation of quarterly reports on progress of activities and achievement of program results to donor.  Establish relationships with private and public sector stakeholders and set up meetings to provide information about the project as part of awareness building  Participate in field visits to the project areas to collect data and assure project progress towards activity objectives and goals.  Support the Chief of Party (COP) with respect to managing relationships with complementary donor projects. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Represent Winrock at meetings and events as required by the COP and prepare presentation and awareness building materials
QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND: Education: A master’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, business administration related to agriculture. Work Experience:
 At least 7 years of professional experience with international development organizations of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the areas of: agriculture, horticulture and irrigation  Working with smallholders and farming cooperatives  Experience with traditional, drip and ferti-irrigation systems  Working with national and regional government departments on agricultural projects with private sector participation.  Experience in Indonesia required.
Skills:  Proven excellent communication skills written and oral in English and Bahasa, i.e. examples of reports written, lectures/seminars given.  Ability to diplomatically supervise staff and coordinate programs with partners from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.  Must be comfortable in high-level representational role as well as interacting with beneficiaries.

Post-Doctoral Fellow: Global Comparative Study on REDD+


The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. We are one of 15 CGIAR Consortium research centres. Our headquarters are in Bogor, Indonesia, and we have offices in Asia, Africa and South America.
CIFOR is seeking a full time Post Doctoral Fellow, Global Comparative Study on REDD+
The Post Doctoral Fellow’s research will contribute to developing policy-relevant conclusions on institutional design for specific country and regional contexts. The Post Doctoral Fellow’s work will be integrated and supported by the GCS-REDD+ national REDD+ strategies component and will be attached to the Forests and Governance Programme. The Fellow will be responsible ultimately to the Forests and Governance Programme Director and under immediate day-to-day supervision of the component leader.
General duties and responsibilities Support the GCS-REDD+ research on national REDD+ strategies and policies development; Provide support and training for partners in this research area’s core methodology; Work closely with the partners in all regions particularly in Latin America and ensure comparability and quality of data and outputs; Contribute to global, cross regional and regional comparison with a specific focus on the Latin American continent; Conduct research and analyse data on the politics of REDD+ and the related policy processes, policy discourses and policy outputs, by applying innovative methods for qualitative and quantitative comparative analysis; Conduct a review of performance measurements and indicators in the context of development policies and measures and environmental governance; Contribute to the design and conduct research and analysis on cross-component themes, with a specific focus on national REDD+ policy outputs and local policy outcomes; Contribute to proposal writing; Publish articles together with partners and other scientists in this research area; and Travel extensively to the GCS countries where this research is taking place with a specific focus on the Latin American continent (i.e. Brazil and Peru).
Requirements
Education, experience and technical skills PhD in the social sciences, preferably in political sciences, with expertise in comparative analysis of qualitative and quantitative data Knowledge and experience in forests and/or environmental governance, political economy, climate change mitigation and adaptation Knowledge of REDD, governance and the political economy of land use and deforestation Experience in social or policy network analysis Experience in the creation, management and analysis of larger datasets (survey data) and quantitative and qualitative data analysis computer software packages Experience in project management and partner liaison Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent writing skills

Desired Skills & Experience

REQUIREMENTS:

Description:
Responsible for; 1) providing the technical support during the both pre- and post-sales processes, 2) playing as a team member collaborating with local and central applications, sales and service teams in the bio process industry/product segment, in order to maximize both customer satisfaction and our business growth. Senior Advisor, Newborn Clinical Services


We are seeking a licensed pediatrician with recent hospital- based clinical experience and 5+ years’ experience in developing countries to ensure the technical and methodological soundness of the Expanding Maternal and Neonatal Survival (EMAS) Program in Indonesia. EMAS is a 5-year, $55 million USAID-funded program that aims to improve quality of emergency obstetric and neonatal services in hospitals and health centers. Working within a team of Indonesian clinicians, the Senior Advisor will provide support to professional associations and health facility staff to accelerate translation of research findings into best practices to improve the health of mothers and newborns. The EMAS program is led by Jhpiego and Save the Children (SC) provides leadership for neonatal care on the EMAS program. The Senior Advisor will report on a day to day basis to the EMAS Director from Jhpiego. S/he will have technical supervision from the SC Sr. Advisor for Newborn Health and management support from the Senior Director, Dept. of Health & Nutrition Responsibilities • Provide technical leadership to increase quality of facility-based neonatal health services particularly on essential newborn care, newborn resuscitation, and care of preterm newborn (including respiratory support). • Together with EMAS partners, strategize for expansion of EMAS quality based neonatal health care into all EMAS supported facilities and to support sustainable and scalable improvements at the national level • Provide hands-on technical assistance in pediatric and neonatal health facilities (clinical mentoring, technical updates) • Work closely with the EMAS director, IDAI and professional associations to develop and coordinate a newborn health care mentoring program of US clinicians from Massachusetts General Hospital and American Academy of Pediatricians/Survive & Thrive Global Development Alliance.
• Monitor progress of the health facilities in achieving performance standards and identify appropriate strategies for assisting facilities to resolve gaps in services. • Support the EMAS clinical team in meetings with professional and hospital associations • Identify and disseminate best practices and new technical strategies and approaches in maternal and newborn health, with an emphasis on the aforementioned gaps in newborn health care in Indonesia. • Provide technical leadership in policy dialogue and technical and policy engagement with EMAS and the Ministry of Health and professional associations. • Review or develop new documents and job aids in specific areas of expertise in maternal and newborn health (MNH), particularly related to essential newborn care, newborn resuscitation, newborn sepsis management, and care of preterm newborns. • Contribute to the ongoing refinement of EMAS approaches and performance standards and support development of neonatal materials and job aids. • As requested, provide technical assistance to the professional association to develop policy statements • Serve as an advocate for MOH and professional association to adopt EMAS approaches • Represent EMAS in national, regional, and global forums by participating and presenting in pertinent meetings and conferences • Contribute to annual work plans and quarterly/annual reports Required • Medical degree. PhD and/or Master’s degree in public health, or relevant training, preferred. • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in the technical area (preferably 10 years of clinical practice post-training) • Licensed Pediatrician with recent hospital-based clinical experience and strong clinical and technical skills in pediatric and newborn health • Experience in working in Africa or Asia preferred. • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience within developing countries, including experience designing and managing maternal and neonatal programs and innovations; • Ability to develop and monitor new approaches to improve quality of care through capacity building, and to apply best practices. • Understanding of USAID donor programming priorities and technical requirements preferred. • Able to give effective and engaging presentations to groups and individuals. Duties:

As part of the Indonesia country team, as well as the regional Financial Markets team, the Associate Investment Officer will lead business development, execute transactions, and actively manage portfolio projects in the financial sector. He/she will establish and maintain strong relationships, at the highest levels, with banks and non-bank financial institutions, investors, as well as with governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The position reports to the Country Manager, Indonesia and the Manager, FM Industry Group – East Asia and Pacific, Hong Kong.

Duties and Accountabilities:
• Develop and promote IFC’s investment activities in the financial sector in Indonesia, as part of IFC’s overall Indonesia country strategies;

• Conduct analysis of and follow up on new business opportunities and liaise extensively with colleagues in local, regional and global teams;

• Participate in negotiations, use negotiation skills to overcome impasses and finalize negotiations in straightforward transactions;

• Assess investments from financial, technology/operations, management and governance viewpoints;

• Coordinate with all relevant units, including advisory services, legal, credit, and environmental and social, to structure, strengthen, document and close equity, debt and structured finance investments;

• Manage assigned portfolio of existing investment projects and pro-actively develop the relationship to add value to project clients and extract value for IFC; and

• Contribute to IFC’s repository of industry specific know-how, key industry ratios, lessons learned, and other tools for better and more efficient decision-making.

Selection Criteria:
• MBA or equivalent qualification;

• At least 5 years experience in finance with a proven track-record of sourcing, structuring and closing investments;

• Experience in and analytical knowledge of emerging markets in general and the Indonesia financial sector in particular;

• Existing and usable network amongst financial and strategic investors in the Indonesia financial sector;

As the organization grows, particularly following increased international publicity of its founder, Robin Lim, who won CNN’s Hero of the Year award in 2011, Bumi Sehat is seeking a Business Manager to scale up its operations and identify new avenues of funding.

The Business Manager will be responsible for assisting Bumi Sehat with business development and strategic planning, training Bumi Sehat’s staff on developing a business plan, write funding proposals, manage donations, and provide financial reporting to funders. S/he will work with the pro-bono consultants currently assisting with the business plan to devise a strategy for its use. The Business Manager will facilitate meetings between Bumi Sehat staff and corporate and philanthropic organizations to initiate large-scale fundraising efforts. The Business Manager will also advise Bumi Sehat on national and local regulations regarding NGOs and fundraising. S/he will assess existing administrative and financial processes, making recommendations for more efficient processes to facilitate further growth. This position will be based at the Bumi Sehat clinic in Ubud, Bali, but will also liaise with Bumi Sehat Foundation in the U.S., and will have some local travel to meet investors. Individual is expected to be mobile and adaptable.

This is anticipated to be a 12 month position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- (further) Develop a business plan, fundraising strategy, timelines, and targets for Bumi Sehat
- Identify major companies operating in Indonesia, prominent international foundations, and other philanthropic organizations and help Bumi Sehat staff tailor the business plan to meet their application requirements.
- Further develop the Bumi Sehat staff to develop and revise a business plan to identify funders, and to launch successful fundraising campaigns.
- Develop corporate and foundation proposals for funding
- Identify ways to make Bumi Sehat’s funding stream more reliable, while keeping in mind its ethos of providing low and no-cost services to those in need.
- Advise on national and local regulations regarding NGOs and fundraising.
- Train the Bumi Sehat staff in the preparation of financial reports for funders, as well as the preparation of a system to manage financial reporting deadlines.
- Assess the current administrative system of the NGO and identify ways to streamline and/or create an electronic filing system to manage records. In doing so, s/he will provide on-the-job training to the Bumi Sehat staff on best practices for data management.
- Evaluate the current Bumi Sehat website through a fundraising lens and make recommendations about how it can be improved.
- Help Bumi Sehat staff devise improved systems to manage donations.
- Offer improvements to the human resource hiring and recruiting system to ensure that all staffing needs (paid and volunteer) are met.
- Assist with hiring/recruiting an M&E person to analyze existing data (volunteer or paid).
- Support the recruitment and training of a permanent Business Manager, if Bumi Sehat chooses to support such a position.
- Provide a report of activities to USAID which will include recommendations for Bumi Sehat to continue its expansion
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

- MBA or equivalent degree
- At least five (5) years of business management experience and experience writing business proposals
- Knowledge of Indonesian laws and regulations regarding NGOs and fundraising
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Fluent in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. Some Balinese preferred
- Prior experience with grassroots NGOs and/or the Indonesian health system
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and respect the unique values and approach of Yayasan Bumi Sehat.
- Willing to live in Ubud, Bali during the time of the contract, and be willing to travel twice to Aceh and at least once to Jakarta at the end of the contract.
- Familiar with Bali (lived or worked in Bali before),
- International experience preferred
- Ability to work independently; with little or no direct supervision

Long Term Value Chain Development Specialists, Indonesia We are currently seeking rural development specialists with value chain development or market-led development expertise for an upcoming effort in Indonesia. Possible start date is December 2012, and the position is subject to ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program. The objective of the program is to contribute to reduced poverty and increased competitiveness of poor male and female farmers in 4 Districts in each of East Java; NTT; NTB; Papua; West Papua (total 20). The program aims to achieve this through improved farmer practices, increased access to input and output markets, and improved business enabling environment at the regional level. While this program will require a systems approach (i.e., taking into account multiple commodities and value chains), entry points for engagement with local markets are likely to be found in commodities such as seaweed, maize, peanuts, cattle and livestock, and cocoa.
Qualifications: • Demonstrated experience implementing programs using market-led and/or facilitative approaches to develop agriculture systems, such as the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) systems approach, or value chain development • Five to ten years of managerial experience in agribusiness development, access to finance and/or competitiveness support activities for donor-funded economic development projects • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing interventions that improve access to information for agriculture value chain actors • Expertise in one or more of the abovementioned commodities/value chains • Relevant advanced degree • Knowledge of Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) procurement and project implementation procedures and processes • Ability to lead multicultural team to accomplish program goals • Excellent English skills, written and oral, required • Bahasa fluency strongly desired.
