Finance officer, Ireland

Christian Aid Ireland’s work is only possible because of the financial support we receive from a wide variety of sources. By helping to ensure that our finances are properly recorded and controlled, you will be helping to maximise our resources to lift individuals and communities around the world out of poverty.
This role reports to the Finance and Compliance Officer in the Finance Team of Christian Aid Ireland, which ensures that all income and expenditure is accurately recorded, reconciled and that proper audit trails exist. The team supports the organisation in the provision of overseas petty cash, visa cards and travel advances.
The role involves the accurate and timely recording, allocation, control and reconciliation of Christian Aid’s income received from a variety of sources, including regular gifts, and ensuring that audit trails for these income sources are fit for purpose. You will oversee the accurate and timely processing and recording of payments to staff and suppliers. You will ensure the accurate and timely process and recording of Christian Aid Ireland’s grant expenditure, and reconcile sterling and foreign currency bank accounts along with other balance sheet control accounts. You will process and audit Gift Aid claims.
Proven skills in finance or accounting are essential for this role. Ideally you will be working towards an accountancy qualification. Whatever your background you will have plenty of experience in bank reconciliation and reporting work. You’ll also need to have a good knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.
More than half the world lives in poverty. We aim to put a stop to that. So we campaign against the inequalities that keep people poor and we work with local organisations to give people strength to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion. If you are as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen.
