Location: Baltic Business Ctr, Gdynia, Poland

Title: Senior QA Engineer, Software Quality Team
ID: TEC00026232

Description

At Thomson Reuters, we deliver intelligent information quickly and efficiently, so professionals have knowledge to act. We combine industry expertise with innovative technology to deliver critical information to leading decision makers in the financial, legal, tax and accounting, scientific, healthcare, and media markets, powered by the world's most trusted news organization.

Senior QA Engineer, Software Quality Team

The Investment Research Content QA group is a global team in Thomson Reuters with groups in Poland, Bangalore, San Francisco, and New York. Working for this team will challenge you to use your technical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills to "find problems fast" in a variety of financial software systems. The systems we work with are on the leading edge of technology and provide the intelligent information that drives the world's financial markets.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Quality Engineer. Your job is to understand highly technical project requirements and to apply the most efficient methods in test automation and exploratory testing. There will be opportunities for you to build your own tools and design test-automation systems from the ground up. You will need to self-learn in the subject-domains relevant to your testing, whether this be with market equity data, financial statements, or technical and testing systems, concepts or methods. Beyond this, you should have a good sense of numbers and data analysis in order to interpret your test results. You should be articulate and able to communicate with technical and non-technical people.

This is a great role for someone highly technical, who has a meticulous attention to detail, loves software and technical tools, has experience testing / software development (or has lots of technical aptitude and is a quick learner), and who has an interest in financial data. We are putting much effort into cultivating a top notch engineering culture on our global team: you should be enthusiastic with a can-do attitude: someone who jumps over obstacles, knows how important it is to share information and help teammates, is not afraid to ask questions, and is motivated by how efficiently and carefully they complete their testing assignments.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and execute test cases.
2. Develop automation scripts for functional and performance tests.
3. Translate high-level business requirements into test scenarios and test cases.
4. Estimate the time to completion for you resting efforts.
5. Report on QA status to the project team and managers.
6. Work closely with software developers, business analysts, and other QA team members to analyze test results and proactively work to resolve any issues.
7. Setup and maintain test environments.

Other Requirements:

1. Be willing to share knowledge with others. Foster an environment of cooperation and trust.
2. Treat everyone fairly.
3. Prioritize, schedule and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping schedules.
4. Work independently under general supervision. Be proactive in solving day-to-day issues.

At times you may need to keep a flexible work schedule to have 1-2 hours of overlap with colleagues in San Francisco.

Qualifications

Education:

College degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Required skills:

1. The ability to handle complexity: you'll be tested on this by being asked to explain a complex topic that you have worked with before.
2. An incredible attention to detail.
3. A basic understanding of data analysis or general quantitative aptitude.
4. Minimum 2 years of testing / software development experience; experience with scripting languages and test automation a definite plus.
5. Experience writing SQL queries.
6. Good understanding of software testing methodologies and concepts.
7. Exposure to some of the following technologies and tools: C++, C#, Java, Python, Web Services (SOAP), XML, MS Visual Studio, Databases (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle), Excel. Bug tracking and test-case tracking software.
8. Any experience with industrial grade testing environments (QTP, HP Load Runner, Selenium, etc) would be useful.
