Our Energy Access Profile
OUR AMBITIONS AND GOALS: ETC’s Energy Access activities involve bringing modern energy products to the rural poor in developing countries. Together with our network of local partners we facilitate the upscaling processes in the rural energy sector and local energy markets.
OUR APPROACH: We do not believe that the energy problems of the poor can be resolved with a mere technological breakthrough or through large scale financial support. Instead, our approach is to start our projects by better understanding the realities of the energy needs of the poor, and their local energy markets of shopkeepers, technicians, promoters and (micro)financiers. Through the identification of the bottlenecks in these local markets, we design and implement sustainable project models that can be replicated in other energy poor communities, in close cooperation with local stakeholders.
PRODUCTS AND SERVICES:
• Business and project model development: Design and implementation of sustainable project models driven by entrepreneurial spirit for expansion and replication.
• Public Private Partnerships: Demand driven support to companies targeting the base of the pyramid with energy products and services.
• Program/Project Management: Development of implementation strategies and support to project-level activity to ensure that overall program goals are met.
