Fairfood International Researcher Food Issues


Fairfood International is a non-profit global advocacy group with its head office based in Amsterdam and hubs located in several parts of the world. Fairfood encourages food and beverage companies worldwide to address socio-economic and environmental sustainability issues within their supply chains. Fairfood International envisions a future with a fair and sustainable food system, which is able to feed the world in a way that preserves the environment for future generations, respects human rights and secures a thriving economy for all.
Fairfood International is currently looking for a:
Researcher Food Issues
Based in Amsterdam
Purpose of the position Strategically, Fairfood International uses its advocacy interventions to encourage transparency, innovation and change in policies and practices from Food & Beverage companies. In this we focus on particular issues in specific countries. The Researcher Food Issues will create an inventory of studies done on particular issues in specific countries that can be used to inform Fairfood’s strategic decision making process and populate our Food Issues Map (see for more information: http://www.fairfood.org/food-issue-map/)
Department
The Operations department provides support to the other departments and the Board of Directors on operational and strategic issues. The department consists of experts in the field of Finance, Human Resources, Quality Management, ICT, Legal and Evaluation and Impact assessment. It is led by the Director of Global Operations, who is a member of the Board of Directors. You will work closely with the Director of Global Operations and the Senior Manager Evaluation and Impact assessment.
Your competencies
 You are studying at or have graduated from a higher education institution (MA or Msc).
 Knowledge of the food and beverage industry, or a degree related to development studies, agricultural economics, environmental studies, business studies and sustainable development is a an asset.
 You have excellent verbal and written skills in English. Being able to work in other languages is an asset.
As a successful applicant, you are also results-oriented, analytical, quality focused and able to work within agreed deadlines. Furthermore, you are able to work independently, and often flexibly, but are also a team player. Obviously, you have affinity with Fairfood International’s goals
