Job Description
HSE’s Offshore Division (OSD) regulates the offshore oil
and gas industry, one of the UK’s most strategically important
industries and covers all aspects of Health and Safety from design and
construction of installations to their safe operation and dismantlement.
Oversight of exploration and production drilling together with the
design and integrity of wells are also key parts of our work.
The inherent risks of the Offshore Oil & Gas industry are ever present. The Offshore Division of HSE’s Hazardous Installations Directorate, has an unrivalled history of progress towards securing control of both existing & emerging risks. Some 28,000 people live and work offshore in some of the most hazardous industrial environments and it is the role of OSD’s Specialist Inspectors to ensure by discussion, assessment, evaluation and offshore inspection that risks are properly managed and the highest standards of safety are maintained. OSD employs a range of Specialist Inspectors from structural to marine and from process to electrical control to provide expertise in their topics, together with Offshore Inspectors from a range of technical and professional backgrounds whose role is to lead and coordinate OSD’s interventions with the offshore industry companies and maximise HSE’s impact.
Background
Diving Specialist Inspectors regulate the majority of diving activities in the UK. The post holder will be based in the Northern inspection team in Aberdeen and will be involved in regulating diving across all sectors other than offshore oil and gas.
About the Role
•Inspection and audit of companies involved in diving operations and related activities.
•Investigation of accidents, complaints and dangerous occurrences.
•Taking enforcement action, including issuing statutory notices;
•Collection of evidence and preparing reports either for legal proceedings or accident investigation;
•Advising clients, duty holders (often at senior levels), and employees and members of the public on legal requirements both orally and in writing.

Qualification(s)
•Education to degree level. Other qualifications may be
considered but the applicant must be able to demonstrate their ability
to write complex reports and legal submissions.
•Experience at management or diving supervisor levels within the inland/inshore diving industry within the U.K. controlled waters, or be able to demonstrate the ability to work at these levels.
•A minimum of HSE Surface Supplied or HSE Part 3 Diving Qualification.

•You will hold a full driving licence that permits you

Allowances
Aberdeen posts will receive an additional Aberdeen
allowance of £13,000 per annum. The role includes travel offshore for
