Fresh from delivering key components for the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Audience Facing Services (AFS) department within the BBC is looking to hire an enthusiastic and talented Senior Test Engineer. 
 
AFS works with the biggest brands within the BBC, such as iPlayer, BBC News, BBC Sport and Radio & Music to deliver innovative products and services in an exciting and fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will work on world-class products with huge nationwide (and often international) exposure that impact millions of people on a daily basis.

Role

This role will initially involve working as a member of the team which develops and maintains the ‘programmes’ application, which produces a 4-screen presence for every programme, large and small, broadcast by the BBC, from primetime shows such as Strictly Come Dancing or The Archers, to selected gems from ever-further reaches of the BBC’s 90-year archive.

Requirements

• Proven engineering skills, and some experience of pair programming (Leadership)
• Experience of Ruby & Cucumber, or a functionally similar set of technologies (Competence)
• Knowledge of test environments, tools and practices and procedures
• Ability to create re-usable test scripts that organise test artefacts in a manageable way (Leadership)
• Ability to ensure cross-browser compliance and awareness of specific cross browser issues (Leadership)
• Ability to design and configure the test environment and update automated software (Competence)
• Ability to drive Test-Driven Development (TDD) by working hand-in-hand with the development and product management teams (Leadership)
