Dalhousie University invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Director, Student Support Services, Faculty of Agriculture (Director SSSFA) with the appointment to be effective as soon as possible and ideally no later than July 2013.

Reporting to Dalhousie’s Assistant Vice President, Student Academic Success Services, the Director SSSFA provides oversight, leadership and hands-on engagement for student retention practices and student services operations at the Faculty of Agriculture’s Truro campus. By working strategically and actively to build on existing student services, partnering with student leaders and collaborating with colleagues at both campuses, he/she will encourage students’ development in all dimensions of their academic success and personal development. As an active participant in student life within the Faculty of Agriculture, she/he will play a key role in the positive transition from a stand-alone college to an engaged and energized campus/faculty benefiting from the wider resources of Dalhousie.
The successful candidate will possess a graduate level degree, combined with at least five years' of related experience in higher education student affairs/student services. He/she will possess outstanding management, communication and interpersonal skills, a dedication to student support, engagement and satisfaction, and the capacity to build and sustain positive work relationships with managerial and academic colleagues. A demonstrated understanding of the complexity and sensitivities associated with significant organizational change is required.
