USA CCS Postdoctoral Research Associate

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of carbon capture and storage (CCS). Based at the School of GeoSciences, University of Edinburgh you will join Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage (SCCS), which is the largest group in the UK researching CCS technologies. SCCS currently holds ~£12M in active research grants and has established excellent links between academia and industry, with 10 core consortium sponsors and a further 20 industry and businesses involved in Joint Industry Projects. These partners represent the entire CCS chain, from power generators, through capture engineering and pipeline operators, to oil companies and sector analysts.
The successful candidate will contribute to knowledge exchange between SCCS and ongoing and future CO2 injection and monitoring projects in the USA and Canada. They will liaise with existing projects in order to promote the research capacity of SCCS and scope out potential collaborations between SCCS and future injection and monitoring projects.
You will have a PhD in an appropriate discipline, with expertise in the monitoring of CO2 injection and storage. Knowledge of the on-going injection projects in the USA and Canada is essential along with a proven track record in CO2 monitoring in the subsurface and near surface. Experience of fieldwork on CO2 injection projects is desirable, as is the ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team.
This is a fixed term post for 18 months (possible extension to 36 months should extra funding be sourced) with an anticipated start date of 3 June 2013.
Salary Scale: £30,424 - £36,298 pa
