Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to the project's trade regime support staff
- Lead implementation of liberalized trade regime component work plan activities, which will focus on assisting the Afghan government in achieving WTO accession and adopting a liberal trade regime
- Lead project management planning, other project deliverables, and reporting to the client for the liberalized trade regime component
- Provide technical assistance and build capacity of Afghan government staff in understanding and developing legal and regulatory reforms required to comply with WTO rules, as well as passing and implementing needed laws and policies
- Participate in key program planning and management activities and assist the chief of party in the implementation of the annual work plans
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in economics, trade or business law, trade policy, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience with a doctoral degree, 12 years of experience with a master's or JD degree, or 15 years of experience with a bachelor's degree
- Experience in post-conflict or transitional countries
- Experience managing a large staff in a complex environment
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Qualified Afghan nationals are encouraged to apply
- English fluency required
