Professor, Transplant Urologist

Introduction
​Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities.
The Department of Surgery provides comprehensive and sub-specialty care in the areas of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dental-Oral, Maxillo-facial Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
The Nephrology and Urology services are established as independent sections within the Departments of Medicine and Surgery. The Urology section provides surgical management for a range of urinary and reproductive system disorders through open surgical, endourological, laparoscopic and laser techniques besides the non-invasive Lithotripsy service for urinary stone management

As part of its mission to provide comprehensive quality care to patients with end stage renal disease, the Hospital now plans to establish a renal transplantation programme through collaboration with a centre of excellence. The phase-wise commencement of the renal transplantation programme at University Hospital will provide an opportunity to develop services and enhance infrastructure to expand it to a multi organ transplant program in the future.
Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of ​Associate / Assistant Professor, Transplant Urologist.
Responsibilities
​The primary responsibility of the position is towards establishment of the renal transplant programme. The incumbent would be required to develop protocols of management for safe and effective care of renal transplant donors and recipients. They will have independent consultant status and undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and specified administrative activities.
Requirements
​Candidates must have completed a structured post-graduate training programme from a reputable institution and possess FCPS, Intercollegiate FRCS (UK), American Board or equivalent qualification. Applicants for Associate Professor should have at least eight years of teaching / research experience in an HEC recognized University or a postgraduate institution, with five years’ post-terminal experience of teaching. S/he should also have minimum eight research publications in journals recognized jointly by HEC and PMDC with at least two of these publications in the last five years, while those for Assistant Professor should have at least 2-3 years experience as Senior Instructor/equivalent in a reputable institution.
Ideal candidate will have multi organ transplant training with particular interest in kidney transplantation. They should have at least five years of association as consultant transplant surgeon at a high volume renal transplant center in a university based teaching set-up.
